WE INTERRUPT FOR A TBFL NETWORK SPECIAL REPORT
TBFL Commissioner Shannon Harris made a surprise visit during the TBFL Properties presentation of the new Franchise Player portfolios this afternoon during Media Day for the 2011 TBFL Draft festivities. Mr. Harris made a few remarks about tomorrow’s draft, but then mentioned he was here to announce a special honor for one of the TBFL’s most storied franchises.
Bay Area Thrashers owner Kevin Beveridge was summoned up onto the stage as a large covered display case was wheeled out from the opposite side.
“The Tampa Bay Fantasy League is the world’s showcase for Fantasy Football and represents its absolute pinnacle,” began the Commissioner. “We struggled to find the right mix of ownership and made several tweaks to our rulebook over our early years, but over the last ten years we have refined our league into the well oiled competition machine that our fans worldwide celebrate. The TBFL has managed to grow in size and stature every year as we have continued to develop our rabid fan base. Only quality leadership and internal development from our elite group of team owners could allow us to reach these lofty heights. Over the last ten years, from 2001 to 2010, no team showed a more consistent level of success than my good friend Kevin Beveridge’s team – the Bay Area Thrashers.”
Mr. Beveridge seemed quite surprised at the announcement and just waved to the crowd of journalists as Thrasher fans in the back of the room started cheering and clapping.
“Thirteen thousand, five hundred, ninety eight points scored. Eighty six victories. Nine TBFL Playoff Appearances. Five Division Crowns, and three TBFL Championship trophies over those ten years. Many of our longtime owners have had successful seasons in that time frame, but only one has managed to guide his organization year after year to provide results consistently at the top of our storied league. It is my great honor to award Kevin, his team, and the entire Bay Area Thrashers organization, this special award naming them as the TBFL Team of the Decade.”
The glass display case was uncovered revealing a large poster prepared by the TBFL Properties Group highlighting the accomplishment for the Thrashers. Mr. Harris presented Mr. Beveridge with a plaque commemorating the event and announced that limited edition prints and T-Shirt packages were already being made available at the TBFL Shop. Mr. Beveridge seemed ecstatic as he shook hands with the commissioner and held the plaque over his head with both hands as throngs of screaming Thrashers fans made their way through security and rushed the stage to celebrate with him. A prepared statement is expected later this evening.
