Statistically Speaking – Week 6

A challenge for the reigns of or Team-of-the-Year….One team hits for the cycle….a surprise team hits the Player-of-the-Week charts….More Kicker Roulette….and a hint of things to come….

Armed N Dangerous may have been looking ahead to the Week 7 Tits & Ammo Night game against Runs N Throses as they let Bay Area Thrashers slip by for the 5 point victory….But Aaron Rodgers is making his case for being the QB-of-the-Year as he ties TDQBITU with a 2nd Player-of-the Week award….310 yards in the air with 3 passing TDs has Rodgers leading the year points race and brings his QB Rating up to 122.5 versus 104.8 for the Dreamy-One….

Ahmad Bradshaw carried the X-Factor squad on his back as he turned in the highest scoring performance of the week….130 combined yards and 3 trips to the end-zone on the ground helped seal the victory over their division rivals….This Player-of-the-Week award is X-Factor’s 5th and they become the first team to hit for the cycle, now holding at least one award at each position….

Wait….what is this?….Fudgie Whales makes this report again….but not for Chump of the Week?!?….The Whales finally break through the Century Mark and claim their first Player-of-the-Week award….Marques Colston helped lead the way through the Husslers secondary netting 7 receptions, 118 yards, and 1 TD….The Whales will need him to maintain that level of performance as they go on the road to face the Buccaneer leading Hurricanes this week….

Six weeks….six different kickers….from six different teams….the only other item of note is that Money Inc joins X-Factor this week in a 3-way tie with Runs N Throses claiming a league leading 5th Player-of-the-Week trophy….they are only a top WR performance away from the cycle….

The Warriors may have lost a close game….but it was not for lack of effort from their New York Jets secondary unit….4 sacks and 2 interceptions including a 100-yard Pick-6 homerun gave them every opportunity to lock this one up….only Ahmad Bradshaw’s incredible performance on the ground let this victory slip away….Warriors drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 10 out of 10 other potential opponents in Week 6….

No I in T-E-A-M

After 6 Weeks it appears that having the hot player each week does not necessarily correlate into team victories….other than Runs N Throses none of the top 5 awarded teams is above .500….

RNT – 5 Awards  (5-1)
XFA – 5 Awards  (3-3)
MNY – 5 Awards  (1-5)
PLY – 4 Awards  (3-3)
AND – 3 Awards  (2-4)

While the 3 Division Leaders have a combined 3 awards….

HUR – 0 Awards  (5-1)
BAT – 1 Award   (5-1)
BBA – 2 Awards  (4-2)

Team of the Week

Average scoring has dropped every week since Week 2….This makes it even more important to squeeze every possible point from your roster….except for Bubba Army’s triumph over Money Inc, the team with the highest efficiency took the win in every game this week with 7 of 12 teams hitting better than 90%….The team with the highest efficency won the Week 6 Team of the Week award….X-Factor takes down his first of the year hitting 99.2% and leaving just 1 point on the bench….If the brother Riley had managed 90% effciency it would have given the Warriors this award and the 1 point victory….Josh will need all his players to keep hitting on all cylinders to make up the 2 game lead Throsers and Hurricanes have in the Division….

Chump of the Week

If I told you ahead of time that the winner of this game would blow out the loser by 53 points, I’m sure you would have expected to see a different helmet on display….Husslers hit the league low 68.6% efficiency on the week and only had 4 players on the full 18 man roster in 2-digit territory….Poor roster management this week did not help their cause as they held onto a QB on IR and his bye-week backup instead opting to pick up 2 WRs who combined for 2 points….4 points less than the players he dropped to acquire them….

Stay Tuned….

There will be another Special Edition of Statistically Speaking coming later this week with a special breakdown as we cross the halfway point of the season….
