Statistically Speaking – Week 7

A split for Team of the Week….100 Win and 10,000 Point milestones are reached….Kicker Roulette continues….and more….

After the early games it looked like Big Ben would take this prize, but ultimately it was 325 yards in the air and 5 TDs in a losing effort against the Team of the Decade that would claim the Player of the Week honor for Drew Brees….the effort ties Cam Newton’s Week 4 outing as the 3rd highest QB score this year….This is the 2nd trophy he has claimed for the Money Men and the team’s 6th Player Award on the season….

After a hiccup in Week 1, Hurricanes have managed to win 6 straight games, all without any award winning individual performances….This week that all changed as they needed everything they could get from top scorer Arian Foster to hang on and avoid an upset from the suddenly surging Fudgie Whales….234 combined yards and 3 TDs ties him for the 6th highest Running Back score in League History….the 14th highest TBFL point total of all-time….

Although another game slipped away….Fudgie Whales find themselves with the top Wide Receiver in the game for the 2nd straight week….Colston secures his 2nd trophy with 7 grabs for 98 yards and 2 scores while running wild in the Hurricanes secondary….he ultimately beats out Greg Jennings for the Player of the Week Award by 1 point….

7 Weeks….7 Different Kickers….7th Different Team….this one is notable in that Crosby tied for the 6th highest kicker score in league history….and was then immediately traded by the Used Car Deale…errr…I mean Warriors to the Husslers….

The Runs N Throses owner has been known to spend hour long phone calls with League office personnel debating the strengths and weaknesses of various defensive units while trying to determine which one he should run with given different schedule situations and scenarios….apparently the coin flip worked this week as their New Orleans Saints squad managed 3 turnovers….including what would ultimately be the game winning 42 yard interception return for a touchdown….Throsers managed 100% efficiency for the 3rd time this season to eek out the victory over Armed N Dangerous on the final Tits & Ammo Night of the year….

Team(s) of the Week

Bubba Army became the 2nd team to win 100 TBFL Games this week (although it took them 14 more games played than RnT to complete the feat….) managing 95.7% Efficiency and stretching their win streak to 5 games….currently in 2nd on the MyFantasyLeague Power Rankings, the Army will face off with the Thrashers in Week 8 who are currently ranked #1 on that list and enjoying a 4 game win streak of their own….Both of these Division Leaders managed to end in a dead tie to split this Team of the Week Award….In regards to that…let’s look at the final 2 plays of the Washington/Carolina game….

1-10-WAS29    (1:12) C.Newton kneels to WAS 30 for -1 yards.
2-11-WAS30    (:34) C.Newton kneels to WAS 31 for -1 yards.

After losing 2 yards to run out the clock, Cam Newton ends up with 59 yards rushing….and the Army at 111 instead of 112….just saying….

Chump of the Week

[Editors Note: My daughter saw me proofing this post and exclaimed, “Aww….It must suck to be the chump….”]

For the first time since Week 1, this award goes to a team not in the Bandit Division….The Grandmasters hit the magic 90% Efficiency rating….but it is still not enough when 9 of your 18 roster spots have a 0 next to them AFTER the game….Arian Foster was within 9 points of beating UO by himself….fortunately for Eric he faces the Chump leading Whales in Week 8….

10,000 is a Lot of Points

And no team has scored them faster than Danny’s Playground Legends who reach the Milestone this week in only their 112th TBFL game….they may have done it faster if they didn’t start that Bye Week defense in Week 5….again….just saying….

Stay Tuned….Again…..

That Special Report piece I teased last week….the one you’ve been waiting for….yeah….that will be up this week….for sure….really….I mean it…..
