Statistically Speaking – Week 5

All the numbers for Week 5 action in the TBFL are in the books….we are left with a trio of two-packs….some record making runs….and another new milestone accomplished as we break them all down….

X-Factor kicks off our first 2-pack with a Player of the Week tandem….Big Ben Roethlisberger’s 228 yards in the air and 5 TDs were key in getting a close victory and giving Armed N Dangerous the 14th highest ever score in a losing effort….Week 5….a 5th kicker takes down this award….from a 5th different team….with 13 weeks in the season, eventually SOME team has to repeat here….X-Factor now has 4 Player of the Week awards on the season from 4 different positions, and has the 2nd highest All-Play record (.718) trailing only Runs N Throses (.800)….

Bubba Army is on a 3-game win streak and most of the work on that run has been done by our next 2-pack of Player of the Week winners….Fred Jackson had 196 combined yards and a score, but only won the award this week over Adrian Peterson by a single reception….With Andre Johnson sidelined by injury, Dwayne Bowe did double duty all by himself with 7 catches for 128 yards and 2 scores barely edging out Pierre Garcon for this title….This is the Army’s first POTW honorees, leaving only Fudgie Whales and Hurricanes looking for their first on the season….

Money Inc’s San Francisco 49ers defensive unit did everything possible to slow down Runs N Throses offense….3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and 2 interceptions including a Pick-6 still did not win the game, but did hold RnT to their lowest victory margin of the year (16 points)….this is the 4th time the Money Men have earned a POTW award tying them with X-Factor and Playground Legends…who tried to take this award again with their Baltimore Ravens squad….even though they were on the bye week*….

*Bye Week – refers to any week during the regular season in which a team does not play a game….The NFL has used the bye week since 1990…so every year each of you has been an owner in the league has included them….so you should know not to start players from those teams during those weeks….especially when your Commisisoner posts big giant graphics of all the teams on the bye week with a reminder to not start those players….Danny….

Team of the Week

The two teams in this game defied all laws of physics by being complete polar opposites, but still not finding a way to attract….The Team of the Decade’s 84 point victory margin ties for the 11th highest as they managed to score double digits at every position AND nail 100% efficiency….this is our last 2-pack of the week as Runs N Throses manages 100% efficiency as well….The perfect set of starters on a team has now been accomplished 4 times this year, twice from RnT….

PLA – Week 2
RNT – Week 3
BAT – Week 5
RNT – Week 5

Chump of the Week

Fudgie Whales takes down this title for the 3rd time in 5 weeks….How bad has it gotten in Carvelville?….Only 4 of 18 players on the ENTIRE ROSTER scored double digits….the other 14 players scored a whopping combined….22….they remain the only team to not hit the Century mark on the year, have only hit the ¾-Century mark 2 times, and this week failed to hit the ½-Century mark….Their 5 game losing streak to start the season is the 5th longest with only Money Inc’s 2008 season (6) and Warriors 1999 season (6) standing between them and a run at the amazing back-to-back 12 loss runs from the Empire in 2000-2001….

For the Record

Runs N Throses is now on a 7-game regular season win streak dating back to Week 12 of last year….the last team to beat them?….Warriors 171-128 in a home loss….Throsers 5 game streak to open the season is tied for 4th longest….they are the 7th team to do it and the 1st since The Crew managed it in 2007….

And finally, Hurricanes has managed a record and a milestone all in one….they have become the fastest team to reach 5000 points scored in all games needing only 48 games to accomplish the feat….2 games faster then the record taken away from X-Factor….they have averaged over 105 points per game and a .604 winning % in just under 3½ years….
