Does Miller load shotgun shells with breast milk?…What cog fits best into the Giants Offense?…Bubba Army has never been happier to have 2 40’s…Another Kicker you’ve never heard of…The 3rd Best Position Player in the League right now….is a Defense…our 1st 2 Time Team of the Week…Shawn’s season of madness continues…Lots of charts full of data…and Chump Survivor…it all awaits you in this week’s ramblings…
Drew Brees (AND)
Is it the Tits?…Or the Ammo?…Or something else?…Somehow Miller manages to pull performance after performance out of his Quarterbacks that no one else can match…Over the past 3 Weeks Armed N Dangerous signal callers have averaged 34 points per game…Almost 10 points better than the next best players over that time frame (Brady & Ryan at 25.3ppg)…and 13 points better than the same players performed under different ownership (21.0ppg with Warriors)…Drew put up a QB Rating of 110.4…completing 29 of 45 passes (64.4%) for 370 yards and 4 Touchdowns…the 1st of which to Devery Henderson moved him ahead of Johnny Unitas to sole possession of the NFL record for Consecutive Games with a Touchdown at 48…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for Brees on the year…the 2nd QB Trophy in 3 Weeks for Armed N Dangerous…and their 5th award on the year…
Ahmad Bradshaw (XFA)
Apparently it DOES matter which back gets plugged into the Giants machine…Bradshaw showed us why he is #1 on the roster…30 carries was just 5 less than he had totaled in the previous games combined…200 yards is his career best…and more than his previous yards from scrimmage combined (183)…He was used early to establish dominance…17 of his 30 carries were on 1st Down…And then relied on to shut things down…1/3 of his carries came in the 4th Quarter…including 6 straight runs resulting in 3 of his 13 1st downs to close the game out…No other Running Back hit 30 points on the week so he literally ran away with his 1st Player of the Week award on the Season…the 2nd on the year for X-Factor…
Marques Colston (BBA)
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers said Monday, Oct. 8, that his defense double-teamed Reggie Wayne in Week 5…but it didn’t seem to matter…He hauled in 13 of his 20 targets (20 targets !?!) for a league leading 212 yards…10 of those catches (76.9%) went for 1st Downs…including 4 in a row in the final scoring drive capped by the game winning touchdown with 38 seconds left…40 points…that’s it…competition’s over…pencils down…Wait…what?…The Saints still have to play?…oh my…Marques Colston did not make the Touchdown catch that set the new record for our Quarterback of the Week…but he settled for 3 of his own…he only managed to pull in 9 of his 18 targets for 131 yards and 5 1st Downs along the way…but did also score the ultimate game winner capping out at 40 points of his own…While Wayne’s game was more heroic…MyFantasyLeague voters prefer Touchdowns…It is Colston’s 1st award on the year…and the 5th trophy for The Bubba Boys…The Twin 40 scores tie for a new Team Record for Bubba Army that was set in Week 2 by Danny Amendola (36)…The last time 1 team had 2 players score 40 or more on the same day?…ironically…Armed N Dangerous in a 138-67 rout of the Tampa Outlaws in Week 8 of 2006 (Wayne 43, Tomlinson 41)…
Blair Walsh (XFA)
Lawrence Tynes and Robbie Gould put up identical stat lines…2 Field Goals and 5 Extra Points…to get to 11…Shayne Graham proved the associative property works by using different math to get the same result on fewer kicks…3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points…But Blair Walsh…Wait?…Who?…Seriously?…2 Weeks in a row where I have to look up who the hell the Kicker of the Week is?…Oh and he’s also a rookie…who gets to kick in a dome…He follows Grizzled Veteran Graham’s path with 3 Field Goals but gets that 1 extra Extra Point opportunity converted to go past the Spinal Tap limit and reach 12…It is his 1st Award on the year and the 3rd for X-Factor who grabbed the all time SEC Points leader (412) off the Waiver Wire this week…
Chicago Bears (UOG)
Over the past 3 Weeks the Bears have scored 5 Touchdowns…Only 4 position players have that many on the entire year (Arian Foster, Victor Cruz, James Jones, & Trent Richardson)…They lead the league in Interceptions (13)…and are 2nd Place in Sacks (18) to the Bengals (19…Really?)…33 points earned this week is the 3rd highest score ever from a defense…and 1 point shy of UO Grandmasters own team record of 34 from Week 10 of 2011…With 103 points scored on the year…their 20.6ppg average is 8ppg better than the next best defenses (49ers & Texans) and 12.6ppg better than the 12th best (Dolphins & Packers)…This is the 1st Defense of the Week Award for the Bears Squad…and the 1st for the UO Grandmasters…
To my own amazement…after 5 Weeks we have yet to repeat 1 Player of the Week award at any position…Armed N Dangerous and Bubba Army are the only Teams to repeat a position award and lead the trophy count at 5 each…The other Division Leader…X-Factor…sits tied in 2nd with Playground Legends at 3…Danny’s squad still has 8 weeks to go to make their promised 10…Husslers remains the only team with 0 player awards on the year…
Team of the Week
Things looked bad early for the Army as Danny Amendola was lost with a broken collar bone on Thursday Night with only 1 catch…Next Cedric Benson was lost on Sunday to a foot injury with only 4 touches on the day…At the conclusion of the afternoon games…UO Grandmasters had ridden their Award Winning Defense to 123 points…X-Factor used his Award Winning Running Back and Award Winning Kicker to edge just past to the lead at 128…the Army sat back at 115…It was the Award Winning Wide Receiver (catching passes from the Award Winning Quarterback) that ultimately let them pull ahead and then get launched to their final Award Winning 155 score…The 4th highest score of the season…Combined with 111 from Armed N Dangerous…the 266 total it is the 2nd highest combined score of the year and ties for 11th highest of all time…it is Bubba Army’s 2nd Team of the Week Award on the year and the 23rd in their team history…
Chump of the Week
The contest to see who would claim Chump of the Week came down to the final moments of Monday Night Football…At the start Runs N Throses sat at 68 with Shayne Graham (Avg 8.8ppg) still to play…Fudgie Whales sat at 71 with Andre Johnson (Avg 13.3ppg) and the Houston Defense (Avg 14.3ppg) still to go…assuredly out of contention…But a subpar performance from AJ left the Texans short of the end zone and kicking Field Goals…then the Jets took their Defense out of the Scoring Bonus…the Whales trailed 77-79 with 2:21 to go…Houston then sacked Sanchise for 8 yards back to the 32 yard line making it 78-79…on the next play they picked off the soon to be Tebow’d QB…giving them the lead back at 80-79…but now Houston had the ball back with a short field…All they needed to do was to run some clock off and pick up about 6 yards to put Graham in his comfort range…then he could kick 1 more Field Goal to pull Throsers out of the cellar…the next three plays say it all:
1-10-NYJ42 (1:51) A.Foster left guard to NYJ 43 for -1 yards.
2-11-NYJ43 (1:44) A.Foster left end to NYJ 43 for no gain.
3-11-NYJ43 (1:02) A.Foster right end to NYJ 47 for -4 yards.
Facing 4th and 15 from the 47 they punted with 17 seconds left and locked RNT into their first Chump Score of the year…They are now on a ridiculous streak of having a Weekly Award Winner involved in every game they have played this year…
Milestones
Runs N Throses has dropped 4 in a row…and this week reached their Milestone 80th TBFL loss…Warriors have continued their 4 game slide…extending their own record to 103 TBFL losses…The 2 teams will face each other in a Week 6 Divisional Game to see which 1 will fall to 5 in a row…
X-Factor is now on a 5 Game Win Streak to start the season (tied for 4th longest)…They are the 8th team to accomplish this feat…which has a Good News–Bad News element to it…Good News…6 of the 7 teams went on to win their Division (Last year Runs N Throses missed out)…Bad News…Only 1 of the 7 went on to win the Fantasy Bowl (2000 Warriors)…
Chump Survivor
Runs N Throses taking the Chump of the Week award also removes them from the Chump Survivor competition…League wide scoring fell a point down to 106.2…but the cellar score rose 8 points in Week 5 to 79…Down to only 8 players left…Fudgie Whales…Warriors…and Playground Legends were all a nullified touchdown away from falling out themselves…They need to bounce back into the pack in Divisional Week 6…
