A familiar face reclaims the Quarterback throne…A Running Back shows us what we can do with our PPR scoring…A 3-horse race is run for the Wide Receiver honors…We get our first repeat Player of the Week winner (it only took 6 weeks)…Another Free Agent Defense is thrown into the fire…only to emerge on top…A new TBFL scoring record…Someone can’t count to 10…Chump Survivor…And another Century Mark is reached…
Aaron Rodgers (FUD)
With Brees taking a mini-vacation…and TDQBITU® completing an incredible 4th Quarter ‘Come From Ahead Tank Job’ (©Jim Rome)…The door seemed wide open for RG3 to finally claim his 1st TBFL Player of the Week award after ending as the Runner-Up (read ‘1st Loser’) 3 times this season…17 of 22 (77.3%!!!) for 182 yards and a Touchdown in the air resulted in a mediocre QB Rating of 97.2…but the 2 tooled threat added 138 more yards on 13 rushing attempts (10.6 avg)…adding 2 more rushing scores…he staked his claim to the trophy with 37 points…And then came Aaron…The Android faced a Texans Defense that had only allowed 6 passing TDs all year to their 7 INTs…and he made them look foolish…he completed 24 of his 37 attempts for 338 yards and 6…yes 6…touchdowns with 0 interceptions…good enough for a 133.8 QB Rating…The clinic from the Cyborg terminates RG3’s chances with 41 points…tied for the 6th highest Quarterback score of all time and a new team record for Fudgie Whales (who also started the Houston Defense against himself?)…It is the Android’s 1st award for 2012 and the 2nd for the Whales…
Shonn Greene (MNY)
Points Per Reception?…What’s a reception?…Or a Target for that matter?…Sanchez…Tebow…Sanchez…Tebow…With the controversy continuing to go on over who should be piloting the Jets…Shonn Greene avoided all Air Travel in Week 6…Shonn instead chose to simply Carry The Rock a personal record 32 times…for a personal record 168 yards (5.03 ypc)…and tied a personal best 3 touchdowns against the hapless Whales defense…The Environmentally Friendly (Greene?) explosion is 45 yards more than his combined output over the last 4 Weeks (123 yards)…his 34 points is the 2nd highest ever scored by a Money Inc. Running Back…he locks up his first Player of the Week award for the season…the 2nd trophy on the year for the Defending TBFL Champions…
Jordy Nelson (AND)
37 (In a row?) Wide Receivers hit the turf as starters in Week 6…3 of them hit the 30 point threshold…AJ Green continued on his quest for Wide Receiver of the Year maintaining his season lead by adding 7 catches for 137 yards and 2 trips to the end zone to reach 32 points…After taking off Week 5…Dez Bryant got right back to business pulling in 13 of his 15 targets (86.7%) for 95 yards and 2 scores of his own…a dropped 2-Point try kept his total at 34 points and the lead going into Sunday Night action…For the 2nd time in 2 Weeks (3rd time on the year) the Wide Receiver of the Week benefits from the performance of our Quarterback of the Week…Nelson was The Android Rodgers most targeted asset (12)…he pulled down 9 of those opportunities for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns (all season highs) to just edge past Dez with 39 points…Jordy now has 19 touchdowns since the start of the 2011 season…2nd only to Gronk (20)…This is the first Player of the Week award for Nelson on the year and the 6th for Armed N Dangerous…
Jason Hanson (BBA)
It was a tight race for the Kickers this week…Shaun Suisham and Stephen Gostkowski followed the tried and true formula of 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points to reach the Spinal Tap threshold of 11…Last week’s award winner Blair Walsh then matched his 12 point output with 4 Field Goals looking for back-2-back recognition…but it was not be found…Jason Hanson outlasted Alex Hennery in what was essentially a kicker’s duel…Hanson struck first nailing 2 Field Goals in the 1st Quarter…then Hennery got his chance nailing 3 Field Goals and an Extra Point of his own…they traded Extra Points in the 4th Quarter…but it was Hanson who would score the final 7 points of the game…including an 18 yard Field Goal to force a 5th period…and then a 45 yarder to seal the Lions victory…He becomes the 1st player to repeat as a 2012 award winner taking home his 2nd Kicker of the Week trophy on the year…the 6th piece of hardware on the Bubba Army mantle…
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (XFA)
Another tie finds its way into the defensive race this week…Warriors Atlanta Falcons unit struggled against a pesky Raiders attack…they did manage to keep active though…piling up 3 Sacks, 2 Fumble Recoveries, and a Pick-6 to total out at 15 points…But X-Factor’s Buccaneers squad was more dominant in reaching the same 15 point plateau…They kept the entire Chiefs offense in check…Brady Quinn managed to end with 0 sacks allowed…but he was picked off 2 times including a Pick-6…and was ultimately held to a QB Rating of only 50.3…4 different ball carriers tried to penetrate the Bucs line…but they only managed 80 yards on 30 attempts (2.7 ypc)…0 Touchdowns allowed to the Offense breaks the tie and gives them the Defensive Team of the Week award…It is the 1st for the Buccaneers and the 4th trophy for X-Factor who are now a Quarterback Award away from hitting for the cycle…
Team of the Week
It was almost perfection…I mean…yeah…X-Factor is still perfect on the year at 6-0…and the 6 Game Win Streak to Start the Season is now tied for the 2nd longest opening run…and he’s probably already guaranteed a playoff spot before the Trade Deadline…and yes…182 points scored is the new TBFL record for the Most Points Scored in a game…beating the 2008 mark of 179 from Bay Area Thrashers by a Field Goal…But it wasn’t perfect…nope…He left 1 point on the bench…1 point…ONLY 99.5% efficiency…Perfection missed…[I may still be bitter about my Week 4 GIFT to him…maybe]…Adding in the 112 scored by the pre-season favorite Hurricanes and the 294 total is the 4th Highest Combined Score of all time…Hurricanes or X-Factor have now been involved in 5 of the top 6 combined scores of all time…playing each other twice…This is Josh’s 2nd Team of the Week on the year (copy cat =P) and makes 12½ for the history of the Franchise…
Chump of the Week
Winning 10 games in a year is no easy feat…In the combined 166 played TBFL seasons…it has only happened 12 times (7.2%)…But when you make the bold statement that your team will become one of those Elite Squads…you don’t want to be mathematically eliminated by claiming this award…55 points is Playground Legends worst result since Week 5 of 2009 (47)…but even 100% efficiency (67) would not have been enough to beat any team this week…Only 3 players on the entire 18 man roster hit double digits…9 Roster positions scored less than 5 points including 5 0 scores…They currently sit on the bottom of the TBFL Power Rankings with both of their wins represented as ‘Coulda Lost’ games if their opponent had optimized their lineups…We have not heard anything from the Legends camp since Week 4…but hopefully they are burning up the war room phones trying to fix this sinking ship…
Chump Survivor
Playground Legends ultimate elimination from a 10-Win Season also eliminates them from the Chump Survivor pool…Even with the record breaking top end from X-Factor…Average scoring fell 5 points to 101.5…the lowest total of the year…6 NFL teams on Bye Weeks in Week 7 could bring things down further as more back-ups make the TBFL starting rosters…
Milestones
Bubba Army’s victory over Husslers makes them the 2nd team to reach 100 Regular Season wins…They are the 2nd fastest to reach the mark taking 188 games played…The win also moves them ahead of the slumping Runs N Throses squad to the Most Wins in TBFL History with 108…
After a 0-2 start…Money Inc. has quietly (And I mean REAL quietly…You out there Tim?) put together a 4 Game Win Streak and are tied for the Bandits Division lead…currently only 9½ points per game separates them from having the tie breaker advantage over Bubba Army…
Runs N Throses has finally broken the streak of having an Award Winner involved in every game played…but in the Battle of the Losing Streaks with Warriors in Week 6…Throsers ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard…Shawn’s losing streak now extends to 5 games…the longest backward slide in team history…
