Yeah…yeah…yeah…3 weeks in a row rushing this out before the Thursday Kick Off…It would have been up yesterday…but my 2nd PC died in my house in a week…and I literally got this one from a guy at 10:30 last night from Craigslist…This just in…Chicago is good…Lots of multi-time winners this week…including 3 going back-2-back…Chump Survivor…the updated Playoff Picture…and…well that’s it actually…
Aaron Rodgers (FUD)
In a rather unexciting week for Quarterback play…nobody made it to the 30 point threshold…The Android may have needed an oil change as he managed to complete only 14 of his 30 pass attempts (46.7%) for only 218 yards…He did manage to pile on 4 more touchdowns to his league leading total (25) for a Sub-100 QB Rating of 96.9…8 rushing attempts for 33 yards (4.13 ypc) and 1 extra interception from Peyton Manning gave him the 4 point cushion needed to claim the Week 9 Quarterback of the Week Honor…The Android becomes the 3rd 1st round drafted Quarterback in 3 Weeks to claim a 2nd Player of the Week award…the 3rd trophy on the year for Fudgie Whales…
Doug Martin (HUR)
Weeks 1-6: 55 points…Weeks 7-8: 55 points…Week 9: 55 points…So given Moore’s Law…does that mean he gets 55 points in the 1st half of Week 10?…I’m going to choke this 1 up to being an absurd anomaly…and proof that the Raiders defense just fucking sucks…251 yards rushing is the 3rd highest total ever by a rookie Running Back…3 of his 4 touchdowns went for 45+ yards making him the 1st player in NFL history to ever accomplish that feat…486 yards from scrimmage in the past 2 games are the most in a 2-game span since Walter Payton in 1977 (Weeks 9 & 10 – 502 yards from scrimmage)…55 points is the new TBFL scoring Record for any player…ousting Chris Johnson’s 54 point outing from Week 2 of 2009…Martin is the 1st player this year to take back-2-back awards at any position…it is the 3rd trophy on the year for Hurricanes…
Brandon Marshall (MNY)
It was not perfection…as his 1st target of the game fell incomplete…but the rest of the game makes up for it…Marshall managed to pull in the his next 9 targets for 122 yards (13.6 yards per catch) and 3 touchdowns…capping out 1 reception shy of 40…All 3 scores came on passes thrown into the end zone…a stat Marshall now leads the entire NFL in with 12…He has fewer yards on the year than Wayne (835 vs 797)…fewer targets than Cruz (100 vs 90)…and fewer Touchdowns than Green (8 vs 7)…but it adds up to the #1 overall Wide Receiver after 9 Weeks with a 22.1 point per game average…It is the 1st award on the year for Marshall and the 3rd trophy earned for Money Inc…
Robbie Gould (HUS)
With all of the Wheeling and Dealing done by Husslers this year (32 players and 28 Draft Picks traded since the pre-season)…and even more attempted (406 Trade Proposals since August 1st)…it still took 9 Weeks for them to finally get a player onto our Honor Roll…and it was a Kicker…Robbie Gould followed the Golden Path to 11…hitting perfect on 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points…then just kept going down the path…tacking on 4 more Extra Points as the Bears humiliated the Titans on Sunday…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for Gould on the year…and the 1st trophy on the mantle for Husslers in 2012…
Chicago Bears (UOG)
Only 16 players in the entire TBFL have averaged 20 points per game after 9 weeks this season…12 of those are Quarterbacks…Then Brandon Marshall…AJ Green…Doug Martin…and the Chicago Bears Defense…That is 8 pts PER GAME better than the next best starter (49ers 11.7) and 10 pts PER GAME better than the average of the other 11 best starting squads (9.9)…Aaron Rodgers is only 4.9 pts per game better than the 12th best Quarterback…and we traded 1st round picks 5 times this preseason jockeying for his services…as a 14th Round Franchise Player this year…they are easily the Steal of the Draft…providing a weekly scoring advantage that would have justified them being the 1st overall pick…It is their 3rd Player of the Week on the Season…and the 3rd trophy for UO Grandmasters…
Team of the Week
Not a real close competition for this award in Week 9…and other than Doug Martin…the rest of the roster was rather pedestrian…Why Megatron (10.4 Targets & 15.9 points per game) was left on the bench for…Jeremy Maclin? (6.3 Targets & 9.75 points per game)…I still don’t understand…But the Pre-Season Favorite is finally getting things clicking and put together Back-2-Back Team of the Week performances…This makes the 3rd time since Week 10 of last season that Hurricanes has won this award Back-2-Back…improving his All-Play Record to a league leading 74-23-2 (75.8%)…He will need to keep it up if he has any chance of unseating X-Factor in the Buccaneer Division race…This is the 2nd Award for Hurricanes on the year and their 10th time winning the award for their franchise…
Chump of the Week
51 Points…man that’s not good…I mean Doug Martin got that on his own…As insult to injury…Husslers could have made a starting line-up of only players from their bench…taking a 0 from Alex Smith and the New England Defense…and still outscored the chosen starters 86-51…Good enough to beat 3 other teams and avoid the Back-2-Back Chump of the Week…45.5% efficiency is the 4th worst ever posted…Hopefully they can put together some strategy to try and play spoiler in the upcoming Divisional Gauntlet Weeks…This is Husslers 3rd time winning this award this year (Some teams have done it 4 times…)
Chump Survivor
Husslers going Back-2-Back in the Chump Award for their 3rd honor of the year means Bay Area Thrashers is our victim in Week 9…and the Storm Division is the 1st to be completely eliminated…Thrashers was Chump of the Week in Week 1 before we started the contest…so technically Armed N Dangerous last week is still the only team we have lost without actually getting their helmet crushed (But it’s ready and waiting…)…Bye Weeks and under performing players across the league dropped the average score to its new low of the year at 96.3…Warriors manages to skate bye another week while being south of that mark…
Notes & Numbers
Warriors extend their TBFL record for losses to 105…
Runs N Throses extends their Franchise Record long losing streak to 8 games…tied for the 6th longest slide of all time…the 5th longest in 1 season…
Money Inc’s 7 game win streak is a Franchise Best…tied for the 8th longest streak of all time…the win against Shannon’s squad is their 70th TBFL Victory…and makes the 90th Regular Season loss for Bubba Army…
UO Grandmasters has become the 4th team to reach their 100th TBFL Victory…they are the slowest to make that mark…taking 194 games played to reach the milestone…
Fudgie Whales is the 3rd fastest team to Reach 2500 Points in Division Games taking 27 games to reach the mark (92.6 points per game)…
Playoffs
Hurricanes sudden surge leaves him 3 back from X-Factor with 4 to play…including 1 more Head-2-Head match-up…in their fight for the Buccaneers Division title…but no one else can claim the crown…Husslers loss eliminates them from Bandit Division contention…but the other 3 teams still have a shot…All 4 teams are still alive in the Storm Division…but Danny will have to find some more of the missing 10 wins to avoid being eliminated in Week 10…
If the Playoffs started today, the top of the standings are easy…
#1 Seed - XFA (8-1) Div Champion
#2 Seed - MNY (7-2) Div Champion
#3 Seed - AND (6-3) Div Champion
But then things get tricky…there are 4 teams locked up at 5-4 (BAT, BBA, HUR, UOG) to fill 3 Wildcard Slots…the 1st tiebreak eliminates BAT due to Division Standing with UOG…leaving BBA, UOG, and HUR…HUR lost Head-2-Head to both BBA and UOG…and those 2 have not played each other…they have the same 2-1 Division Records…so we go to points…and BBA wins the #4 Seed by 102 points…
BBA (5-4) (2-1) 998 points
UOG (5-4) (2-1) 896 points
For the #5 Seed…with 3 5-4 teams still tied…UOG again eliminates BAT due to Division Standing…and they have a Head-2-Head win over HUR…
For the #6 Seed…only 2 teams tied…and BAT has the Head-2-Head Week 4 win over HUR…
#4 Seed - BBA (5-4) By 102 points over UOG
#5 Seed - UOG (5-4) By H2H over HUR
#6 Seed - BAT (5-4) By H2H over HUR
On The Bubble
HUR (5-4)
FUD (4-5)
PLA (3-6) By 2 point win over WAR in Week 2
WAR (3-6)
HUS (2-7)
RNT (1-8)
Yes…with the bottom rung at 5 Wins…Shawn has not yet been kicked off the ladder…sitting 4 back with 4 to play…but I anticipate him being the 1st entry into the 2012 Empire Cup next week…
