Wow…I really fucked this up last week…so we get a sort of double sized issue this week…10 More POTW awards…Hurricanes are really good…at the really good time to be really good…Bubba Army continues to shoot themselves in the foot…at the wrong time to be shooting themselves in the foot…Chump Survivor finds our Final 2…And everybody’s favorite…The Playoff Scenario breakdown…
Week 11 Awards
RG3 (XFA)
After ending up as 2nd Best for this award 4 times this season (Weeks 1,2,3 & 6)…RG3 finally broke through in Week 11…He was nearly perfect hitting 14 of 15 passes (93.3%) for 200 yards…4 Passing Touchdowns on so few passes gave him a 26.7% Touchdown Percentage…1 on every 3.75 throws…for an astounding QB Rating of 158.3…He added another 84 yards on 12 carries (7 yards per carry) in trying to lead his team to victory and the Division Crown…but still came up short in the upset loss to Runs N Throses…It is RG3’s 1st award on the year…The 6th overall trophy for X-Factor who are now the 2nd team to hit for the cycle with an award at every position…
Marcel Reece (UOG)
Maybe Eric had the West Coast Advantage on this Free Agent acquisition converted Wide Receiver…he took the chance on him after 1 outstanding receiving game against the Buccaneers and never looked back…picking up every Rushing yard he has managed on the season…103 yards on 19 carries (5.4 yards per carry) would be a good day for anybody…but he also added another 90 yards from scrimmage pulling in 4 of his 5 targets…Darren who?…Averaging 21 points per game over the last 3 weeks is over a Touchdown better than the 12.5 points per game the 6th overall pick in the 2012 TBFL Draft had managed with the starting job…It is Reece’s 1st Player of the Week award…the 4th trophy for UO Grandmasters…the 1st not earned by a Defense…
Andre Johnson (FUD)
Sure he has not completed a full season since 2009…Sure he is a 31 year old player in his 10th season in the league…but in a week where The Whales needed to start stringing together wins for a Playoff Run…the old man delivered…He found himself in Matt Schaub’s crosshairs 19 times (ties Personal Best from Week 6 of 2008) and pulled in a new Career Record 14 of those (Previously 12, done 3 times) for a Career Record 273 yards (Previously 207 in Week 15 of 2008)…add a Touchdown as the cherry on top…and it ties as the 13th highest score ever achieved in the TBFL…The 7th highest by a Wide Receiver…It is Andre’s 1st Player of the Week award on the year…the 11th different Receiver to claim the title in 11 Weeks…It is the 4th trophy on the year for Fudgie Whales…
David Akers (FUD)
We had a Kicker duel in Week 11 to see who would claim the Kicker of the Week award…Week 1 Award Winner Matt Bryant followed the Spinal Tap rule…going perfect on 2 Extra Points and 3 Field Goals…but he gave himself a 1 point bonus hitting from 51 yards to end on 12…David Akers also went perfect on 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points…and then got 1 more Extra Point for an extra point to end tied for the lead…Akers hit more kicks (6 to 5)…Bryant hit them from further out (127 yds to 101 yds)…but we ultimately broke the tie on this one with Team Loyalty…Bryant has only kicked for the Warriors this year…And Akers has only kicked for the Whales…but Warriors did drop Bryant for 2 Weeks while Akers has started EVERY game for the Whales…even Bye Week be damned in Week 7…It is Akers 1st award on the year…the 5th trophy for Fudgie Whales…who are now a Running Back award away from hitting for the cycle…
New England Patriots (HUS)
When Husslers drafted the Patriots Defensive squad in the 10th Round of the 2012 TBFL Draft…you have to think this Gauntlet stretch of the schedule had to be the reason why…getting consecutive games against uncertain Quarterback play from the Colts, Jets, & Dolphins…Andrew Luck may be having some Veteran type successes as a Rookie…but the Flying Elvis squad still made him look like the 1st year player he is…they picked him off 3 times for 2 scores…and forced him to cough up a Fumble…Add on another 68 yard Punt Return for a Touchdown and it separated the Patriots from the rest of the Defensive Pack for their 1st award on the year…The 2nd trophy earned for the Husslers…
Week 12 Awards
Tom Brady (BAT)
Week 12 saw a great battle between dueling Turkey Day tossers…RG3 started things off going 20 of 28 for 311 yards against the hapless Cowboys defense…he set a new Rookie record by throwing 4 touchdowns for the 2nd week in a row…then added on 29 more rushing yards on 6 carries (4.8 yards per carry…well below his 6.7 avg on the year) in his bid to repeat for this award…The Dreamiest Quarterback in the Universe® had his designs on adding another trophy to his mantle however…he put up similar passing numbers going 18 of 28 for 323 yards and 3 Passing scores of his own…he then ran 3 times for 5 yards and an all important 4th score on the ground…which was the 2pt difference to win 34 to 32…It is RG3’s 5th time as Runner-Up…It is Brady’s 3rd time winning the award…and Bay Area Thrashers 5th trophy on the season…
Bryce Brown (XFA)
Talk about having faith in a pick…UO Grandmasters snagged LeSean McCoy with the 2nd overall pick in the 2012 TBFL Draft and enjoyed some success before trading him away…meanwhile X-Factor drafted his backup in the 16th round…and quietly kept him stashed away all year…never giving up on the chance he would get his chance to play…With X-Factor fighting for the Buccaneer Division crown…and trailing by 21 on Monday Night…Brown delivered in his 1st ever start…178 yards gained on 19 carries is a ridiculous 9.4 yards per carry average…2 scores on the ground matched McCoy’s entire season production in 1 game…and the 32 points scored is more than double McCoy’s 15.7 average on the year…this single effort ended Hurricanes Reign of Terror on Team of the Week and secured the Division Title for X-Factor…it his 1st award on the season…the 2nd Running Back award for X-Factor…and their 7th overall trophy…
Dez Bryant (UOG)
While the Cowboys Defense did not find much success on Thanksgiving…At least their offense had 1 shining star…Dez Bryant played in AJ’s shadow in Week 11…but still managed an amazing 145 yards and a Touchdown grab on 12 catches…For Week 12 he only hauled in 8 of his 11 targets…but he managed to match the 145 yard total…and then doubled up on the scoring…taking 2 trips to the end zone in quick palindromic (yeah…it’s a word…) scoring drives of :14 and :41 seconds…he now has scores in 3 straight games for UO Grandmasters who will need to keep up the effort to continue to lock up their spot in the 2012 TBFL Playoff Race…It is the 1st award Bryant…the 12th different player to win this award in 12 Weeks…and the 5th trophy for the Grandmasters on the season…
Connor Barth (MNY)
Giving out this award for Week 12 almost feels dirty…as not 1 Kicker managed to reach the Spinal Tap 11…Adam Vinatieri was perfect for 2 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points to end on 8…Lawrence Tynes matched the score hitting perfect on 6 kicks…but 5 of them were Extra Points…Shayne Graham had 7 attempts…4 Extra Points and 2 Field Goals with 1 going off course to end on 9…Connor Barth did hit for the Golden Formula going perfect on 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points to get to 11…he then had 1 more opportunity to hit a 50+ yarder to jump ahead of the pack and win the game for the Buccaneers over the Falcons…but he missed and fell back to 10…still good enough to claim his 1st award of the year…The 5th trophy for Money Inc. who are now just a Defense away from hitting for the cycle…
New England Patriots (HUS)
The battle for this award in Week 12 came down to 2 defenses facing off against each other…The Patriots
started things off first for Husslers…sacking Mark Sanchez 2 times and getting 1 pick…they then got 4 Jets players to cough up the ball…including returning 2 of them for scores within :09 seconds of each other in the middle of the 2nd Quarter to get to 24 points…Bubba Army’s St Louis Rams squad tried to match the effort facing a hapless Cardinals QB making his 1st ever NFL start…They ran the rookie into the ground 2 times and…with the pressure…got him to throw to the wrong uniforms 4 times…including 2 Pick-6’s…6 turnovers to 7 was the ultimate decider as the Patriots claim their 2nd award in 2 Weeks…the 3rd trophy on the season for Husslers…
Teams of the Weeks
Really?…4 in a row?…Of course it has never happened before…and I didn’t do the math…but I am pretty sure no one has ever averaged 145.3 over 4 consecutive games either…He has won this award now 8 times since Week 9 of 2011…that’s 8 of the last 16 Weeks of Regular Season play…50%…that just does not seem possible…but there it is…he remains the only team to score at least 100+ (103+ technically…) per game this year…1544 points currently has him as the 4th Most Points in a Single Season…and we still have 1 Week to go…
Going into Monday Night it looked like 5 in a row might be a possibility as Hurricanes had tallied up a 5th straight 130+ outing in their head-2-head battle with X-Factor for control of the Buccaneers Division title…And then came Bryce Brown…His 32 point explosion for the Eagles (Seriously..why has this guy not been starting all year?) allowed X-Factor to come from behind and lock up their 1st Division Title since 2009…144 to 133…133 ties as the 2nd most points ever scored in a loss…the 277 point combined total ties as the 5th Most Combined Points in TBFL History…Half of the Top-6 Combined Scores consist of games from this rivalry…
Chumps of the Weeks
There is the picture Hunter has been waiting all year to see…for the 2nd Week in a row the Team of the Week got to pound on the Chump of the Week…We thought Runs N Throses had packed it in for the year in the Buccaneers Division…but it is Mike’s squad that managed to find double digit scores from only 3 of his entire 18 roster spots…A 100% efficient roster could have still saved him from this award giving it to Playground Legends instead…Speaking of…
It has been 2…long…quiet…months since we last heard the 10 Win Promises from Danny and the Legends…While they failed to even reach the Average League Score in 8 of the last 9 weeks…They did get the benefit of playing the slumping Bubba Army in Week 10 to avoid a 10 LOSS season…Only Husslers have fewer Points Scored (1085 v 1048)…Only Warriors have fewer Potential Points (1309 v 1293)…but they are the only Winless Team in Division Play this season (0-5)…Will they manage to rise up and surprise us in Week 13 as a stumbling block for UO?…
Chump Survivor
There were only 3 Participants left after Week 11…and Money Inc’s streak ending loss left them as the odd-man out…Warriors being the Chump of the Week for Week 11 made AND & the Money Men as the sole teams eliminated without having their helmets crushed…Week 12 ultimately hosted the fan-fareless finale (Sorry…) to determine our winner…Congrats to the Hurricanes on becoming our 1st ever Chump Survivor Champion…No monetary award for you…just a nice graphic for your home page next year…you know…to go in that slot where you still have no TBFL trophies…Maybe we throw some CA$H into this contest next year?…What do you guys think?…
Notes & Numbers
X-Factor’s 2012 squad becomes the 13th team to complete a 10 win season…A Money Inc victory over Bubba Army in Week 13 would make them the 14th…The only other seasons to see 2 10 win teams were 2008 (Bubba Army & Hurricanes) and 1999 (UO Grandmasters & Tampa Bay Outlaws)…
Bubba Army has managed to mire in inefficiency…leaving 40 point Quarterbacks on the bench in back-2-back weeks…making last second roster changes resulting in 10+ point negative swings…and struggling to find a defense that does not end up in the Red Zone…resulting in a 5 game fall from grace…they have however managed to limp over the 18,000 point barrier in the Regular Season to sit at 18,097 points…
Warriors Week 12 loss to Runs N Throses extends their own league leading record to 107 total losses…and has them crossing the Century Mark again as the 1st TBFL team to reach 100 Regular Season losses…taking 181 games played to reach that total…The 3 game Win Streak that RNT is on has allowed them to take the Overall Wins lead back from Bubba Army …They become the first team to reach 110 wins…
The Week 11 win by Armed N Dangerous over UO Grandmasters made them the 1st team to win 50 Divisional Games…taking 77 games played to reach the milestone…Their Week 12 victory over Playground Legends extends that record to 51…Will #52 on T&A Night keep Thrashers out of the …
Playoffs
Money Inc secured their 1st Bandits Division title since 2005 in Week 11…despite losing…when Bubba Army slid to their 4th loss in a row…It took the 20 point victory over Playground Legends in Week 12 for Armed N Dangerous to securely lock up their 5th Storm Division Championship…and it took the Monday Night comeback from X-Factor to finally knock Hurricane Torres back down to Tropical Storm status and seal their 2nd ever Buccaneer Division title…X-Factor took care of any tie-breaker shenanigans by beating Money Inc 115-82 in Week 1 so they are locked into the #1 Seed position…Money Inc took down Armed N Dangerous in the Week 8 Tits & Ammo Night showdown so they are guaranteed the #2 Seed…All Division Champions are just playing spoiler in Week 13…
If the Playoffs Started Today:
#1 Seed - XFA (10-2) Div Champ - #1 Locked Up by H2H with MNY...
#2 Seed - MNY (9-4) Div Champ - #2 Locked up by H2H with AND...
#3 Seed - AND (8-3) Div Champ - #3 Locked up by default...
#4 Seed - HUR (7-5) Wildcard Locked...only 2 others can reach 7 wins...
#5 Seed – UOG (6-6) By 2-0 H2H record over BAT
#6 Seed – BAT (6-6)
Outside Looking In:
FUD (5-7) (2-3) Split H2H with BBA 1268 pts
BBA (5-7) (2-3) Split H2H with FUD 1256 pts
Hurricanes streak has made them the only 7 win team…only 2 other teams can reach 7 wins so they are guaranteed a Wildcard at this point…UO Grandmasters and Bay Area Thrashers both have Win-and-In situations for Week 13…7 wins guarantees either of them a playoff spot…If either team falls in Week 13…then the door is open for Fudgie Whales and Bubba Army to enter the tiebreaker arena…
If all 4 teams end on 6 wins…
– If FUD ends on more points than BBA…then FUD would eliminate BBA by division standing…UOG would eliminate BAT by division standing…FUD would take the #5 Seed by Week 1 H2H victory over UOG…UOG would then again eliminate BAT by division standing…UOG and BBA did not play H2H…both would have 3-3 Division Records…and the #6 Seed would be determined by points…BBA currently has an 81 point advantage (1256 v 1175)…
– If BBA ends on more points than FUD…then BBA would eliminate FUD by division standing…UOG would eliminate BAT by division standing…UOG and BBA did not play H2H…both would have 3-3 Division Records…and the #5 Seed would be determined by points…BBA currently has an 81 point advantage (1256 v 1175)…
– If BBA ends on more points than UOG…BBA claims the #5 Seed…UOG would then again eliminate BAT by division standing…FUD would take the #6 Seed by Week 1 H2H victory over UOG…
– If UOG ends on more points than BBA…UOG claims the #5 Seed…BBA would again eliminate FUD by division standing…BAT would claim the #6 Seed by Week 8 H2H win over BBA…
3 Teams Tied Scenarios…
1)UOG wins…BAT loses…BBA wins…FUD wins – UOG claims the #5 Seed on 7 wins…BAT claims the #6 Seed with H2H wins over both BBA (Week 8) and FUD (Week 2)…
2)BAT wins…UOG loses…BBA wins…FUD wins – BAT claims the #5 Seed on 7 wins…
– If FUD ends on more points than BBA…then FUD would eliminate BBA by division standing…FUD would take the #5 Seed by Week 1 H2H victory over UOG…
– If BBA ends on more points than FUD…then BBA would eliminate FUD by division standing…UOG and BBA did not play H2H…both would have 3-3 Division Records…and the #6 Seed would be determined by points…BBA currently has an 81 point advantage (1256 v 1175)…
3)BBA wins…UOG loses…BAT loses…FUD loses – UOG would eliminate BAT by division standing…UOG and BBA did not play H2H…both would have 3-3 Division Records…and the #5 Seed would be determined by points…BBA currently has an 81 point advantage (1256 v 1175)…
– If BBA ends on more points than UOG…BBA claims the #5 Seed…UOG would then again eliminate BAT by division standing and take the #6 Seed…
– If UOG ends on more points than BBA…UOG claims the #5 Seed…BAT would claim the #6 Seed by Week 8 H2H win over BBA…
4)FUD wins…BAT loses…BBA loses…UOG loses – UOG would eliminate BAT by division standing…FUD would take the #5 Seed by Week 1 H2H victory over UOG…UOG would then again eliminate BAT by division standing to claim the #6 Seed
If BBA and FUD both lose…then UOG and BAT are in no matter whether they win or lose…
Everyone else is sitting at 4-8 and will be playing in the Empire Cup…those seedings can wait till next week…
