Yeah…it’s really late….too busy at actual work to touch it…then too busy turning 42 to finish it…and then loading everything into pretty Google Doc charts for your future study…but here it is….the 2013 TBFL All-Star Squad…let’s go…
2013 All-Star Team
Quarterback
Peyton Manning (MNY) 356 Points
He started Week 1 with a record setting explosion and ended Week 13 sitting in the same spot atop the Quarterback heap…in between Peyton never managed to win another Player of the Week trophy but was consistently in contention…327 Completions on 480 attempts for 4125 yards…9 Interceptions and 41 Touchdowns is a Passer Rating of 115.3 for the 2013 Season…356 points scored (29.7 ppg) was almost 11 ppg better than the 12th best possible starter (Andy Dalton 228, 19.0 ppg)…but by benefit of being only 1 of 4 Quarterbacks to start every game for their team (Brees, Stafford, & RG3…but not Cam because I was an idiot Week 3) he outscored the 12th best started Quarterback by 269 points (Russell Wilson, 87 points in 4 starts, 21.8 ppg)…
Other Quarterback Notes
In total 29 different Quarterbacks suited up for TBFL action this year…
Drew Brees was the only other Quarterback to crack 300 points and took home 4 Player of the Week trophies for his effort…Stafford led the league with 500 Pass Attempts and finished only 9 points behind Brees at 291…but never won any hardware…Cam was the only other player to win 2 trophies for the position by leading the pack with 6 Rushing Touchdowns…
Brady, Eli, Flacco, and Foles all started for 2 different teams…
The best Started Quarterback Committee on the year (Money Inc – Peyton, Flacco) scored 379 points (29.2 ppg)…and outscored the worst Committee by 13.9 ppg (X-Factor 199 – Brady, Foles, Pryor, McGloin)…

Running Backs
Jamaal Charles (BAT) 255 Points
“And the #1 Pick in the 2014 TBFL Draft is….” In his last year under his Bay Area Thrashers contract…Charles only led in 1 statistical category…Targets (87)…he was #4 in Rush Attempts (219)…#3 in Rushing Yards (1011)…#2 in Rushing Touchdowns (9)…#4 in Receptions (55)…#3 in Receiving Yards (452)…and after getting run out of the Playoffs by him I find it hard to believe…but it’s true…Only 2 Receiving Touchdowns on the year (1 every 43½ Targets)…He put everything together in Weeks 3 & 12 to end as the only Running Back to win 2 Player of the Week awards…255 Total Points makes him the 2nd Highest Scoring position player and our Running Back of the Year…
Matt Forte (FUD) 222 Points
In what was ultimately the most 1-Sided trade of the year (222 to 7)…Fudgie Whales jumped on the opportunity to rid himself of David Wilson and grab a homer pick in Forte between the Draft and Kickoff…Matt was left on the bench for Week 1…but then became 1 of the most consistent players in the League…averaging 20.2 ppg in 11 starts to end ahead of 5 other Running Backs who started all 12 contests for their teams (Peterson, McCoy, Lynch, CJ-No-Way, Gore)…While trailing his teammate Peterson in Rush Attempts (261 to 213)…Rushing Yards (1208 to 973)…and Rushing Touchdowns (10 to 7)…He doubled him up on Targets (74 to 37) and Receptions (59 to 27)…ultimately using his Receiving Yards advantage (443 to 165) to end 3 Points ahead and in the last Flex position on our All-Star Squad…
Other Running Back Notes
In total 52 different Running Backs suited up for TBFL action this year…
Playground Legends piled on the most Running Back points (460) and missed the Playoffs…while Hurricanes only earned 180 from the position (11th Place)…and finished with the Best Record…
Husslers, Money Inc, and Warriors all started 7 different Running Backs…while Fudgie Whales only started 3 different Running Backs on the year with 2 of them ending in the Top 3…
Money Inc had the most Running Back starts (34)…while Hurricanes had the fewest (Only 14 in 13 Weeks)…

Wide Receivers
Calvin Johnson (HUR) 267 Points
The Transformer…involved in the most controversial trade of the year…ends with the highest position player score on the season (267)…Megatron’s 72 Receptions were ONLY good enough for 6th Place…but he was #1 in Targets (133)…Receiving Yards (1299)…and Receiving Touchdowns (12)…He finishes 105 points better than the Worst Starter on the year (T.Y. Hilton 162)…or a 10.8 points per game advantage…despite only starting 11 games between his 2 owners…He was the only Wide Receiver to take home 3 Player of the Week awards…and is our Wide Receiver of the Year…
Demaryius Thomas (HUR) 228 Points
Serving as the Primary Target of our Quarterback of the Year…you would think DT’s stat line would look better…#13 on the year in Targets (107) and Receptions (67)…#7 in Receiving Yards (1061)…but tied for #3 in Receiving Touchdowns (10)…He maintained consistent performances however (19.0 ppg)…and was 1 of only 8 Wide Receivers to start 12 games for 1 Team…He provided the most Wide Receiver Points on the season for any 1 Team…and The 8th Round Keeper is the only position player on our All-Star squad not drafted in the 1st 2 rounds…
Brandon Marshall (RNT) 227 Points
Marshall spent all season just a step behind Thomas (18.9 vs 19.0 ppg)…he ended just under 4 digit Receiving Yards (990)…and just under double digit Receiving Touchdowns (9)…but he ended tied for 5th with 124 Targets…and in 4th place with 78 Receptions…to stay 7 points ahead of A.J. Green (220)…and prevent a Hurricanes sweep of the Wide Receiver position…Unlike every other player on the All-Star squad…Marshall never managed to earn a single Player of the Week award…but he finishes as the Top Flex Player on the 2013 All-Star Team…
Other Wide Receiver Notes
In total 91 different Wide Receivers suited up for TBFL action this year…
20 different players started only 1 TBFL game…with only Fudgie Whales and Playground Legends avoiding any 1-Shot Wonders…
Hurricanes dominated the position…they had the most Starts (51)…the most Points Earned (955)…and the most Points Per Start (18.7)…they almost tripled the worst squad in UO Grandmasters who managed only 394 Points Earned in 37 starts (10.6 pps)…
Bay Area Thrashers made the most from the least…they piled on the 3rd Most Points (667) while starting only 6 different players (15.9 pps)…Fudgie Whales and Money inc also started only 6 different players at the position…while Bubba Army and Warriors both ran out 12 different starters…

Kicker
Stephen Gostkowski (BBA) 120 Points
While following the Golden Path may let many Kickers reach the Spinal Tap limit of 11 on any given weekend…Stephen Gostkowski was the only Kicker to reach double digit points per game (10.0) over the full TBFL Season (12 Starts)…Matt Prater ended with more Kick Opportunities (75 to 64)…they finished tied for Bonus Kicks (5)…and Player of the Week trophies (2)…but Stephen nearly doubled him in Field Goals (28 to 15)…to make up the difference and finish on the All-Star team…and is our 2013 Kicker of the Year…
Other Kicker Notes
In total 24 different Kickers suited up for TBFL action this year…
Even though he ended as the 6th highest scoring Kicker for the year (102 points)…Adam Vinatieri was only owned by 1 team (BBA)…for 1 week…where he scored his only 0 with no kicks attempted…
Mason Crosby ended the season worth just 2 more points than Vinatieri (108)…but in contrast was owned by 4 different teams (AND, HUR, HUS, WAR)…and started in 8 games…
UO Grandmasters and X-Factor both ate 0’s on their Kicker Bye Week…just riding 1 Kicker through 13 games…while Husslers and Hurricanes each cycled through 4 different Kickers…

Defense
Seattle Seahawks (RNT) 150 Points
The 1st Defense taken in the 2013 TBFL draft…the Seahawks started hot taking a Player of the Week trophy in Week 2…Ultimately the Chiefs (2 Trophies), Bengals (2 Trophies), and Panthers (1 Trophy) were picked up and made late season runs for the title…But Shawn rode Seattle for all 12 Games…letting them end with the 2nd lowest Points Allowed (186)…the least Yards Allowed (3,414)…and #1 in Turnovers (27)…the 49ers were the only other Defense to get 12 starts..but they end 16 points behind our Defense of the Year…
Other Defense Notes
In total 28 different Defenses suited up for TBFL action this year…
The highest scoring starting committee (RNT – Seattle, New Orleans) ended 7 points per game better than the worst committee (XFA – Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia)…
The Oakland Raiders and New York Giants Defenses were started a total of 3 times for a net result of -6 points…
