Lets face it…this is a Thursday Feature…Peyton runs out of Luck…Bandits run away with a
title…Transformers can cut through traffic…The Worst…is the Best…The Jaguars suck…A
dumb trade flips fates…Legends are fading away…Chump Survivor…streaks and
milestones…lets go…
Andrew Luck (HUS)
Matthew Stafford threw 3 Touchdowns in back-2-back games for the 1st time since 2011 but ended on 29 points…RG3 piled on his highest rushing total of the year (84 yards) but ended 2 passing yards short of 300 to end on 29…that just left the head-2-head battle between Peyton and Luck to determine our winner…Manning continued his assault on the record books adding 3 more Touchdown passes and piling on 386 yards in his return to Indy…but a 4th Quarter interception and a missed 2pt conversion try left him at 30 points for the weekend…Luck played a more conservative game going 21 of 38 (55.3%) for 228 yards (6.0 ypa) but matched Peyton’s 3 TD throws…He avoided any turnovers and used his legs to add on 29 yards including a 10 yard 4th Quarter scoring run that edged him up to 31 points…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for Luck…the 2nd trophy earned on the year for Husslers…
Matt Forte (FUD)
The top of the Running Back heap all came from the Bandit Division in Week 8…Frank Gore re-emerged with his 1st multiple rushing Touchdown regular season game since Week 17 of the 2009 season…he managed 104 yards from scrimmage including grabbing 2 of his 3 targets to end on 24 points…Jacquizz Rodgers was even worse on the ground gaining only 16 yards on 8 carries (2.0 ypc) against the Buccaneers…but he led all Running Backs in receptions on the weekend…pulling in 8 of his 9 targets for 46 yards including 2 scores…his only missed target was bobbled on the Bucs goal line for a possible 3rd TD…but was batted away by Lavonte David leaving him at 25 points…Matt Forte also had a pretty dismal ground game getting 41 yards on 15 carries (2.7 ypc)…but he did punch in 2 short Touchdown runs…2 catches on 3 targets for only 18 yards did not help much …but he broke loose for 1 50 yard Touchdown run (11 point play…) to top our chart with 30 for the weekend…It is Forte’s 1st Player of the Week award…the 2nd Fudgie Whales back to claim the award…and their 6th trophy on the year…
Calvin Johnson (WAR)
Vincent Jackson had a hot Week 1…then stayed hidden from his Bubba Army quarterbacks…only pulling in 10 of 28 targets (35.7%) in the next 3 games with 0 scores on the year…As the Army was becoming a full M*A*S*H unit after Week 4…AND caught them at a weak moment and convinced them to forget why they drafted Jackson and accept a trade for handcuff protection…Since then Jackson has of course been on fire…#1 in Targets for Week 7 with 22, #1 in Receptions with 10, and #1(t) for Touchdowns with 2…138 yards gained ended him on 35 points…Megatron had his best game of the year in his last as a Warrior…he piled on 8 catches for 105 yards and a score of his own…but this 50 yard bomb caught in the end zone against triple coverage in the 4th Quarter would just edge him on top to 36 points…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for Johnson (and only the 2nd time all year he has even been in the Top 3)…the 2nd trophy on the year for the Warriors…
Nick Folk (PLA)
Yes…you read that right…The 10th Round Keeper that Danny caught hell for topped the field this week…3 Extra Points and 3 Field Goals including the game winner against the Division Rival Patriots brought him 1 over the Spinal Tap goal to 12 points…tying Week 2 as the lowest score to win this position on the year…Folk has 3 game-winning Field Goals this season, 1 with 2 seconds left against the Buccaneers, 1 with 0 seconds left against the Falcons, and the 1 in the 5th Quarter against the Patriots. That is the most game-winning kicks in the final minute of regulation or any point in overtime in a single season in Jets history (Mike Nugent had 2 in 2007)…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for Folk and the 7th trophy in 7 weeks for Playground Legends who have now hit for the cycle with an award at every position…
San Diego Chargers (BBA)
The Carolina Panthers took Bradford’s 1st pass of the game for a 45 yard Pick-6 as an omen of things to come…they harassed him all afternoon sacking him 2 times and forcing him to Fumble before ending his season in the 4th Quarter on a tackle after a 1 yard run…With Clemens in for the final snaps…they added 2 more Sacks with another Fumble Recovery to end on 16 points…but you can’t beat incompetence…The Jacksonville Jaguars are so bad this year you can start any Free Agent against them and be the best that week…The Chargers had not seen a double digit score all year…but against the Jags they managed 6 Sacks and an Interception…The Jags only had 3 Red Zone opportunities all day and could do no better than 2 Field Goals…the low score bonus brought the Bolts to 17 points…the lowest point total to win this award all year…It is the 1st Player of the Week award for the Chargers…the 2nd Defensive Award and 4th trophy overall on the year for Bubba Army…
Team of the Week
[Deep Sigh]…It seemed like a good idea at the time…
As stated above…Miller caught me in a moment of freaking out about my roster after a Week 4 that saw me fall to the Chump Score for the 2nd time…NOT accepting that trade would have resulted in a TOTW score for Week 6…instead I took a Division loss…For Week 7 it was more of the same as just swapping scores between Jackson and Jennings would have changed the outcome to a 2nd TOTW score in a row…Lesson to be learned here…Trust Your Gut…you drafted your players for a reason…let them prove it or lose it on the field…not in the war room…As it stands ANDGB (There are more Packers on that roster now than Warriors ever had Redskins) ended up with just the right components to defeat Husslers…both managing to match double-digits from all positions but the defense…and to stay ahead of The Army while Freeman could not complete passes to ANYONE on Monday Night let alone Jennings…It is their 1.33rd Team of the Week award on the season…their 21.33rd award in their history…
Chump of the Week
At the end of the Sunday Afternoon games…Husslers looked to be in the hot seat with only 48 points…but they still had 4 players to go and racked up 56 points in Sunday Night action…meanwhile The Legends sat at 65 with only Knowshon left to run…13 was respectable for a starter but 78 points left them as the Chump for Week 7…Roster management may be to blame for the fall of the Legends Franchise…Over the last 2 Weeks…Miles Austin has had no catches on 7 targets…Austin Pettis has only snagged 3 balls for 29 yards…the once dominant Ravens Defense has not seen double-digits since getting to play Matt Schaub in Week 3…But Danny’s only roster change has been to add Doug Baldwin (4 ppg) and Kenny Stills (Not Started)…It is the Legends 1st Chump Award on the year…and 1st since going back-2-back to close out the 2012 Regular Season…
Chump Survivor
Average TBFL scoring remained the same at 103 this week…but the spread was much tighter with Playground Legends 78 being the only score under 95 points…Warriors finally managed to avoid the hot seat…leaving Runs N Throses at the bottom with Hurricanes who end their streak of 100+ point scoring weeks at 24…Our Final 6 consists of 3 teams from the Buccaneer Division, 2 teams from the Storm, and only last year’s runner-up Fudgie Whales from the Bandit Division…
