Statistically Speaking – 2014 Week 10

Statistically Speaking

Yeah the article is late this week…Work…Wife…Sons of Anarchy…all had a part in it…Lots of Packers and Big Numbers in Week 10…A 45 year old QB Record…Beast Mode goes for 40…Trips 30’s Top The Tosser Target Tier Testing Tiebreaks To Take The Title (13 T’s!…15)…Kickers take it up to 14 (ok not a Big Number…but it is our 3rd Packer)…another 30 for the Defense completes the cycle…A Big Reason to return to The Podium…a 34 Week Streak ends…a 91 year old NFL Record and 62 year old Eagle record…and the Storm Division flip flops the Playoff Picture…here we go…

2014-potw-wk10

Aaron Rodgers (AND)

Rodgers, Aaron GBP QB2 Quarterbacks reached the 30 point barrier in Week 10…Peyton Manning got off to a slow start against the Raiders tossing 2 early interceptions…but exploded after that finishing 31 of 44 (70.5%) for 340 yards and 5 scores (extending his record of Consecutive Games with 2 or more Touchdowns to 15)…totalling out at his 2nd highest score of the season with 35 points…With that gauntlet thrown…the Android started the late game on Sunday by tieing Daryle Lamonica’s 45 year old NFL Record…throwing 6 Touchdowns against the Bears IN THE 1st HALF…he was 18 of 24 (75.0%) at that point for 315 yards…he threw 3 quick incompletions to start the 3rd Quarter…then said Fuck It and took the rest of the game off…ending on 39 points…It is the 2nd Player of the Week award for Rodgers…and the 5th trophy on the year for Armed N Dangerous…

Marshawn Lynch (RNT)

Lynch, Marshawn SEA RBBeast Mode Activated…This can’t even be categorized as a competiton as Lynch…literally…ran away with the award…Marshawn started with a 23 yard catch on his sole target of the day…then carried 21 times for a league leading 140 yards (6.67 ypc) against the Giants…that’s more than his previous 2 games combined (129)…he had 6 runs of at least 10 yards…and had a total of 75 yards after contact…Lynch had more points off of his 4 Touchdowns (New personal record) than any other Running Back would score in total…and ended on 41 points to claim the title in back-2-back weeks…41 points is the highest score from any Running Back this season…it is the 3rd Player of the Week award for Lynch…and the 7th trophy on the year for Runs N Throses…

Jordy Nelson (RNT)

Nelson, Jordy GBP WRDez Bryant got us started early playing across the pond in Wembley Stadium against the Jaguars…6 catches for 158 yards including 2 2nd Quarter Touchdowns of 35 and 68 yards set the bar high at 33 points before halftime…then never saw another Target as the Cowboys ran out the clock…With QB Award winner Rodgers throwing at him…Nelson did his best Dez impersonation also grabbing 6 catches for 152 yards with 2 2nd Quarter Touchdowns of 40 and 73 yards to end on the same 33 point score before halftime…then never saw another Target as the Packers ran out the clock…Jordan Matthews tried to cacth them on Monday Night…he had to play all 4 Quarters to get 7 catches for 138 yards and 2 Touchdowns…finishing 1 point behind the leaders at 32…With nearly identical stat lines…Dez and Jordy both had 2 Touchdowns…Dez had 2 more yards…but Jordy got it done on 2 fewer targets hitting 100% efficiency…It is the 2nd Award on the year for Nelson…and the 8th trophy on the year for Runs N Throses…

Mason Crosby (WAR)

Crosby, Mason GBP PK4 Kickers made our Spinal Tap cutoff in Week 10…Brandon McManus needed 7 Kick Opportunities with 5 Extra Points and 2 Field Goals against the Raiders to reach 11…Caleb Sturgis did it on only 4 chances with 1 Extra Point and 3 Field Goals inculding a 50 yard bonus earner to get there…Matt Bryant had not seen a 2-Digit day since Week 1…but then the Flacons got to travel to Tampa…4 Field Goals and a lone Extra Point brought him up to 13 points…Mason Crosby had the most Kick Opportunities in Week 10 with 9…he was perfect on 7 Extra Points and 2 Field Goals including a 52 yarder to total 14 points…enough to tie the Bears on his leg alone…Crosby is our sole 1st time award winner this week…it is the 10th overall trophy for the Warriors…

Philadelphia Eagles (WAR)

eagles6 Defenses managed 2-Digit scoring in Week 10…and none gave any points back…but there were 2 standouts…the Arizona Cardinals faced off against the patchwork of replacement players for the Rams…they harrassed Austin Davis all day sacking him 6 times…the pressure was too much for Davis who gave up the ball 3 times including a 30 yard Pick-6 and a 14 yard Fumble Recovery Touchdown…both within 1:14 of play at the end of the 4th Quarter..the Cards held the Rams to 14 points to set the bar at 25 points…On Monday Night the Eagles followed a similar game plan against the Panthers…DeAngelo Williams coughed up a Fumble on the 2nd play…the Eagles pressured Cam Newton…sacking him 9 times and forcing him to throw into 3 Interceptions including a 34 yard Pick-6…Darren Sproles added a 65 yard punt return Touchdown before they releneted the pressure and gave up 2 late scores in the 4th Quarter…still finishing at 31…it is the 6th highest score from a Defense in TBFL history and the highest Defense score this season…it is the 2nd award for the Eagles…for their 2nd Team (XFA…Week 5)…and the 11th overall trophy for the Warriors…who have now hit for the cycle with 1 trophy at every position this season…

Team of the Week

pla-helm-250px

Fudgie Whales set the high score target at 142 after Randall Cobb finished the lineup on Sunday Night…but there were still 6 Eagles and 4 Panthers playing on Monday to try and bring them down…Warriors were the most unlikely competitors starting Monday at 79 points…but 31 from the Defense of the Week and 22 from Kelvin Benjamin in garbage time gave them the biggest jump of the night (53) to 132…Runs N Throses sat at 109…but only got a 26 point boost from Greg Olsen and Cody Parkey to finish a TD short at 135…Armed N Dangerous looked in the best position sitting at 133 with Darren Sproles to go…but he finished with only 8 points to end 1 behind at 141…Playgorund Legends started in range at 125…and rode Rookie Jordan Matthews to the best game of his short career to reach 157 and take the title…It is the 1st Team of the Week for the Legends this year…their 12.33 time winning the award…and the 2nd highest score in their Team History (160…213 Week 1)…

Chump of the Week

bat-chump-250px

8 players stacked on the same Bye Week is never helpful…but Bay Area Thrashers still managed 98.8% efficiency from what was left of their roster…unfortuneately they saw only 1-digit scores from most of their position replacements and below average production from their Steelers to finish the day early at 80 points after the 4pm games…UO Grandmasters and BAT’s Week 10 opponent Warriors both sat behind them at 79 points going into Monday Night action…as described above…Riley was launched into the Team Of The Week competition at 132…while Erik managed 8 points from 1st Round Bust (it’s safe to call him a bust now right?) LeSean McCoy to reach 87 points…It is the 1st Chump of the Week for Kevin since Week 1 of 2012…ending a 34 Week Streak of avoiding this title…and is the 80th Regular Season loss for the franchise…

Chump Survivor

And then there were 3…Average scoring climbed back up 14 points to 116 in Week 10…Kevin falling to the Chump Score eliminated him and the Storm Division from the Chump Survivor competition…the only thing left that either has never won…Money Inc. is the only team remaining to ever make it this far into the competition (2012…Week 11)…Husslers surpassed their best finish in Week 5 (2012)…and Runs N Throses in Week 8 (2012)…

2014-cs-wk10

Notes & Numbers

Runs N Throses 135-78 victory over Husslers is their 120th Regular Season (League Leading) and 125th All-Time (#2) Win…this would have been sweeter if it happened last week because they are still currently sitting on 49 Division Wins…

Warriors reached their 95th All-Time Win…and is now on a 7 game Win Streak since losing to Shawn in Week 3…tied for the 4th longest streak of all time…and the 2nd longest Win Streak in franchise history…

Armed N Dangerous reached their 110th All-Time Win…

Hurricanes is now 5-0 against Money Inc in the Regular Season…Money Inc reached a Milestone with their 100th All-Time loss…the 4th team to reach the mark…and the 2nd fastest to do so with 188 games played (53.2% Loss Rate)…

Playground Legends have now beaten Bubba Army in 5 straight games going back to 2010…while Fudgie Whales have beaten UO Grandmasters for 4 straight games going back to 2011…

After piling up 862 passing yards in the previous 2 games (107.8 yards per quarter average)…Ben Roethlisberger finished the 1st Quarter against the J-E-T-S with only 5 passing yards…

The Eagles now have at least 1 takeaway in 21 straight games…the longest streak in the NFL…They also have 9 Return Touchdowns setting a new team record dating back to 1952…

DeMarco Murray Watch

Murray got back to 3-digit territory with exactly 100 yards rushing in Week 10 against the Jaguars…unfortuneately that is 108 yards BEHIND Dickerson’s 10th game in his 1984 Rams campaign…Eric had 208 yards…played in St. Louis…but as a road game against the Cardinals…Murray still holds the season lead by 62 yards as he heads into the Dallas Bye Week (which I mistakenly called last week)…1233 to 1171…but Dickerson averaged 167.2 yards per game over the next 5 weeks…that is 44 yards per game better than Murray’s current rate this season…

DMvsED-GM10

Bear Abuse

Aaron Rodgers threw 10 Touchdown passes against the Bears this season….Rodgers was the first player with 10 TD passes in a season versus 1 team since Dan Marino threw 10 against the Jets in 1986…

When Jay Cutler connected with Brandon Marshall for a TD in the 3rd quarter…it ended the Packers streak of 69 unanswered points against the Bears…dating back to the 3:50 of the 2nd Quarter in Week 4…it is the 2nd longest streak by either team in the history of this rivalry…

By allowing 51 points to the Patriots followed by 55 points to the Packers…the Bears tied a 91 Year Old Record with the 1923 Rochester Jeffersons as the only teams to allow 50+ Points in Back-2-Back games…

Playoff Picture

TBFL Playoffs Logo

Storm Division feasts on its own as 1 team jumps back into the pool…pushing 1 team back outside in Week 10…

If the Playoffs started today:

#1 Seed - BAT (7-3-0) - Div Champion (by H2H win over RNT)
#2 Seed - RNT (7-3-0) - Div Champion (by H2H win over WAR)
#3 Seed - MNY (5-5-0) - Div Champion (by H2H Win over HUS)
#4 Seed - WAR (7-3-0) - Wildcard
#5 Seed - AND (6-4-0) - Wildcard
#6 Seed - HUS (5-5-0) - Wildcard (by H2H wins over UOG & PGL)

Bay Area Thrashers loss to Warriors opens the door to some tie-breaker shenanigans depending on the outcome of the Week 11 game between Warriors and Runs N Throses…for now Warriors is removed from the tie-break by Division Standing and Thrashers holds the #1 Seed by their Week 8 win over Throsers…Shawn holds the #2 Seed solely by head-2-head win in Week 3 over Riley…Money Inc and Husslers both lost in Week 10 allowing Tim to still hold the #3 Seed by his Week 9 head-2-head win…but a suddenly surging Fudgie Whales sits only 1 game back from challenging them both for the title…

For Wildcards…Warriors maintains the #4 Seed as the only remaining 7-3…Armed N Dangerous gets an explosive win over X-Factor while UO Grandmasters falls to the Whales to break their tie…jumping Miller back to the #5 Seed as the sole 6-4…this leaves a 3-way tie for the last slot at 5-5 between UO Grandmasters…Playground Legends…and Husslers…Justin beat both other teams head-2-head (Weeks 5 & 8) and maintains his hold on the #6 Seed…

On the outside looking in:

UOG (5-5-0) (H2H Win over PGL)
PGL (5-5-0)
XFA (4-6-0) (H2H Win over FUD)
FUD (4-6-0)
BBA (3-7-0)
HUR (2-8-0)

Armed N Dangerous clawing their way back into the pool has sent UO Grandmasters back to the outside…but all 3 Storm Division teams are still at .500 or better after 10 Weeks (AMAZING!) so none of them are worse than 2 back with 3 to play…X-Factor is technically 3 back with 3 to play in the Buccaneer Division…but they are eliminated from the Bucs title race since one of the 7-3 teams will gain at least a ½ win in Week 11…the bottom rung of Wildcards is still 5 wins…meaning Hurricanes and the Army at 2 out with 3 to play are still technically alive to claim a slot if they were to win out…
