Okay…it is technically Thursday…but really early Thursday…maybe still Wednesday out by Eric…but there was much research to be done…QB’s battle with Quality over Quantity…All of the best RB’s were nowhere to be found…WR vets have a Thrash-off…3 Kickers go above and beyond…and the supposedly unstoppable force really does meet the immovable object…TOTW is really good…COTW is historically bad…and we break down the history of the matchup…Let’s go…
Ben Roethlisberger (WAR)
We had a tie for the Top Quarterback position in Week 2…For his 2nd I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today appearance of the year…TDQBITU® did his best Peyton impersonation by throwing on 68.6% of his offensive snaps…Brady had 38 completions on 59 attempts (only 10 other Quarterbacks even threw 38 passes on Sunday) for 466 yards…3 Touchdowns…and 0 Picks (QB rating 105.6)…it was the 2nd highest yardage total of his career (517, 2011 Week 1)…and ended his day at 34 points…Roethlisberger took quality over quantity against the 49ers…he finished with 21 completions on 27 attempts (77.8%) totalling 369 yards…3 Touchdowns of his own…and 0 give-aways…2 fewer passes thrown would have made him the 2nd Quarterback in 2 Weeks to throw a Perfect Passer Rating game…but instead he just ended with the highest rating of the week at 155.8…Big Ben took advantage of the the new NFL extra point rules to rack up 2 more passing scores on Point-After-Tries to end at the same 34 points…5 scoring plays vs 3 breaks this tie…It is the 1st Quarterback of the Week award for Roethlisberger…and the 1st trophy of the year for the Warriors…
Jamaal Charles (UOG)
With 7 of the Top-10 Running Back scores left on TBFL benches in Week 2…Including the Top-3 (D. Williams 30 FUD, M. Jones 28 PGL, & D. Lewis 24 BAT)…we are left to deal with the Best of the Rest…Danny Woodhead lead all ACTIVE backs with 6 Receptions on his way to 104 yards from scrimmage…he managed to reach 15 points on a scoreless day…Latavius Murray had only 87 total yards…but did score on a 1-yard end run to reach 17 points…Adrian Peterson had the most yardage on the day with 134 on the ground and 58 in the air on just 2 Receptions (29 ypc)…a Fumble set him back to just 19 points for the day…finally Jamaal Charles piled on 125 yards on 21 carries (5.95 ypc) including the 1st Touchdown of the Week…a 34 yard scamper on Thursday Night…to lead the ACTIVE players with 20 points…it is the 1st Running Back of the Week award for Charles…and the 1st trophy earned on the year for the Grandmasters…
Larry Fitzgerald (BAT)
The Top-3 Wide Receivers for Week 2 all cracked the 30 point threshold while challenging their own Personal Record Books …In the Happy-Pass-Fest from TDQBITU®…Julian Edelman was targeted a league high 19 times…tieing his own personal best (19, 2013 Week 14)…He managed to haul in 11 of those opportunities for 97 yards (8.82 ypc) including 2 Touchdowns on his way to 33 points…the Final 2 slots would involve Bay Area Thrashers veterans dueling to be #1…Antonio Brown had 9 Receptions on 11 Targets (82% Completion Rate) for a League Leading 195 yards on the day…1 short of his own personal record (196, 2013 Week 3)…Brown added a 7-yard insult to injury Touchdown in the 4th Quarter to end at 36 points…In his 172nd NFL game…Larry Fitzgerald pulled in 8 of his 9 targets (88.9% Completion Rate) for 112 yards…but re-wrote his personal best by grabbing 3 Touchdown passes for the 1st time in the Regular Season (14 previous games with 2 Touchdowns)…to just edge out Brown with 37 points…It is the highest Wide Receiver score on the year…The 1st Receiver of the Week award for Fitzgerald…and the 2nd trophy on the year for Bay Area Thrashers…
Stephen Gostkowski (PGL)
3 Different Kickers raced past our 11 point goal in Week 2…Mason Crosby matched his 5 Kick Opportunities from Week 1…but this time flipped the columns getting only 1 Extra Point and scoring a Field Goal in every Quarter including a 54 yard bonus earner to reach 14 points on the day…Justin Tucker got 7 Kick Opportunities in the Ravens losing effort against the Raiders…he was perfect on 3 Extra Points and 4 Field Goals to just edge past Crosby with 15 points for the week…Stephen Gostkowski lead all Kickers with 8 Opportunities against the Bills…he split them evenly getting 4 Extra Points and 4 Field Goals including a 50 yard bonus shot to finish in the lead with 17 points…it ties as the 3rd highest Kicker score in TBFL History…matching the Playground Legends team record (Matt Bryant, 2014 Week 13)…it is the 1st Kicker of the Week award for Gostkowski and the 1st trophy on the year for Playground Legends…
Denver Broncos (FUD)
While 2 Pre-Season favorite Defenses managed to cost their owners points in Week 2 (Bills -4 HUS, Ravens -4 UOG)…2 squads who gave up a combined 657 yards from scrimmage to their opponents battled to be #1…The Broncos got started Thursday Night with a Fumble Recovery on the Chiefs 1st drive…but then lost all of their low score bonus giving up 14 points…they kept the pressure on Alex Smith sacking him 4 times while forcing 2 Interceptions and another Fumble…with only 27 seconds left in regulation…the Horsemen forced a final fumble from Jamaal Charles and returned it 21 yards for the game winning Touchdown to reach 20 points…No other challengers would come close until Monday Night action…facing what was supposed to be a Super Bowl bound Colts offense…the J-E-T-S kept them completely contained pitching a shut-out for 3 Quarters…Andrew Luck gave up a Fumble and 3 Interceptions while only managing to see the opposing side of the field for 20 total snaps in the game…The J-E-T-S pulled ahead to a high of 23 points before finally surrendering a Touchdown in the 4th Quarter and ending at 18…It is the Broncos 1st Defense of the Week award and the 1st trophy on the year for Fudgie Whales…
Team of the Week
After the early games on Sunday…Bay Area Thrashers took a 1 point lead over Runs N Throses 129 to 128…and then never looked back or trailed…climbing to 142 to close out Sunday…and then ending at 160 with the J-E-T-S output above on Monday Night…the score could have been higher with 24 points left on Thrashers bench from Dion Lewis for a final tally of 89.4% Efficiency…Kevin’s team now sits atop the Power Rankings with a 21-1 (.955) All-Play Record and is 1 of only 3 undefeated teams remaining after 2 Weeks of TBFL Action…Playing the Chump of the Week (more on that below) resulted in a Victory Margin of 131 points…a new TBFL record (127, 2013 Week 11)…It is the 1st Team of the Week award on the year for Bay Area Thrashers…their 23.83 time winning the award for the Franchise…
Chump of the Week
Ummm….I mean….[shakes head]…Wow…Ouch…29 Points…I had to go back and verify it…but we went to WR only PPR in 2006…with full PPR for all players in 2007…only 1 team had ever scored under 40 after that (Marauders 2008 Week 10, 36)…and the Fewest Points Scored in a Single Game section of the Hall of Fame was something I was sure would never see another update…the score ties as the 3rd Lowest score in TBFL History…Injuries suck…but playing the Team of the Week just added insult to injury…the only saving grace is that Money Inc only managed 33.3% efficiency…meaning that even after the injured guys are taken out…there was a potential 87 points to be had…good enough to have beaten 3 other teams in Week 2…It is the 1st Chump Award for Money Inc on the season…ending a streak of 18 Weeks avoiding the bottom position (2013 Week 9)…It is the 15th time winning this award for the franchise…
Chump Survivor
The opposite extremes from the Chump and Champ scores cancelled each other out…and our average score in Week 2 fell 6 points to only 101…After finishing 1 point away from claiming this title in 2014…Money Inc is the 1st to exit for the 2015 Season…Bubba Army (79), Husslers (76), and Hurricanes (70) currently are on the bottom of the ladder looking for corrections for next week…
