Not the way I wanted to get this done…but still under time crunches…so here is a quick run down of the Playoff Picture as we start the Divisional Gauntlet Run…and some other odds and ends…
If the Playoffs started today:
#1 Seed - HUR (8-2-0) Div Champion #2 Seed - BBA (6-4-0) Div Champion #3 Seed - AND (5-4-1) Div Champion #4 Seed - RNT (7-3-0) Wildcard #5 Seed - WAR (6-4-0) Wildcard #6 Seed - FUD (5-4-1) Wildcard
The In-or-Out split is easy at this moment with the only 6 teams above .500 being in and the 6 teams below .500 being out…but the final rankings within each Division are still volatile and up for grabs…
Sitting 4 games out with 3 to play means X-Factor is officially eliminated from defending their Buccaneer Division crown…they still have head-2-head victories over Hurricanes and Warriors and can continue to play Spoiler to those Division Records while trying to stay in the Wildcard hunt where they are currently just 1½ games back from Fudgie Whales #6 Seed position…Warriors already has a Week 3 victory over Runs N Throses and can ruin Throsers chances at unseating Hurricanes with their head-2-head match-up this week…a Hurricanes win and Warriors loss would eliminate Warriors from the Division title hunt…putting all the pressure on Hurricanes to win in Week 12 against Shawn…who already has the head-2-head tiebreaker from their Week 6 contest…
Even with the Week 10 win…Money Inc is now 3½ games back with 3 to play and is eliminated from the Bandit Division title hunt…with the bottom rung of the Wildcard ladder at 5½ Wins…they are still technically not in the Empire Cup race yet…but will have to go perfect through the Gauntlet to have any chance of hanging on…the head-2-head win over Bubba Army in Week 9 keeps Husslers within striking range and a win this week against Fudgie Whales would break the Week 3 tie in their head-2-head favor for the last Wildcard position…a loss to the Whales with a Bubba Army win this week would eliminate their Bandit Division chances…Fudgie Whales ended their 73 week Team of the Week drought and followed it up with a 2nd place 155 point effort in Week 10 to quietly climb into 3rd place in the Power Rankings…if they can get through Husslers…their Week 12 match-up with Bubba Army may be the Division decider with their ½ game standings hook…
And in the ‘My how the mighty have fallen’ Division…Bay Area Thrashers is still technically alive sitting 2½ back with 3 to play…they will have to run the table and have Miller lose out in order to extend their Consecutive Playoff streak to 14 years…Thrashers gets 1st crack at Playground Legends…whom I think may have recently mentioned that they have head-2-head tie break advantage over every team in the Storm Division…Legends and UO Grandmasters otherwise sit with the same record 1½ games behind Armed N Dangerous who like all the other Division Leaders control their own destiny…they can afford 1 loss over the next 3 weeks and still hold the top slot due to their ½ point standings hook…
On the outside looking in:
HUS (4-5-1) PGL (4-6-0) (By H2H vs UOG and Div Record vs XFA) UOG (4-6-0) (By H2H over XFA) XFA (4-6-0) BAT (3-7-0) MNY (2-7-1)
Husslers can climb into the #6 Seed Wildcard slot with a win this week over Fudgie Whales…in our 3-way tie…UO is eliminated from the tie by benefit of Playground Legends better Division Standing (remember…he beat everyone in that Division head-2-head…that got mentioned right?)…The Legends and X-Factor did not play each other this season…so their tie is broken on Division Records 3-0-0 vs 2-1-0 in favor of Danny…for the 2-way tie between Grandmasters and X-Factor…Eric defeated Riley the Younger head-2-head in Week 4…93 to 63…and with 3 weeks left to play…the final 2 rungs of the ladder are still technically above the rapidly advancing Empire Cup waterline…
Notes and Numbers
Just throwing these charts up since I have not been able to get the regular article done…Kudos again to Fudgie Whales for coming from behind by 30 points on Monday Night in Week 9 against Money Inc to end their own 73 game Team of the Week drought (2010, Week 13)…by snatching the award out of the hands of Money Inc who were about to end their own 62 Week run…by…1…point…ouch…
Hurricanes gets their 4th Team of the Week on the year…with the 172 point explosion in Week 10…extending their League Leading Champ Rate to 18.42% of all Weeks Played…it is their 2nd 160+ point game on the year…and makes them only them 3rd team in TBFL history to finish a season with a perfect 7-0-0 Non-Division record (BBA 2002, RNT 2011)…
Bay Area Thrashers taking a 2nd Chump of the Week award in the same season had only happened 3 other times over the last 13 Seasons of their Playoff Streak…and taking it in back-2-back weeks has not happened since…identically…Weeks 8 & 9…of their 1st ever season in 2000…they have not lost 4 games in a row since a 5 Game Losing streak stretching from Week 10 of 2011 thru Week 1 of the 2012 Season…
UO Grandmasters was hit with an unlucky -13 (or does being negative…make it lucky?) from their Packers Defense to become only the 2nd team on the year to repeat as Chump of the Week on the season…they move into a tie with Warriors for the most ever Chump Titles with 22…
Week 9 saw UO Grandmasters become only the 5th team to win 50 Division Games…they are the 4th fastest to reach the milestone taking 104 Division Games played (48% Win Rate)…
Money Inc’s loss in Week 9 to Fudgie Whales made them the 4th team to reach 50 losses in Division games…they are the 2nd fastest to reach the milestone with 93 Division Games played (46% Win Rate)…
Bay Area Thrashers Week 10 loss to Fudgie Whales was their 100th loss in All-Games played as a Franchise…taking 244 games played to reach the milestone (59% Win Rate)…
After 10 Weeks of TBFL Action…
The average Team of the Week score this season has been 147.5…
More then double the average Chump of the Week score of 70.6…
The average score of the current Division Champions has been 119.9…
While the average score the current Wildcard teams has been 110.6…
And the average score of teams currently out of the Playoffs has been 98.6…
