Look it’s Tuesday Night and the article is done man…ok well it will probably be Wednesday technically when I hit the submit button…but I need the extra time to figure out my Bubba Army Survivor roster play…you know the one where I lose a starter to an ACL Injury every week…Cam is getting…Better?…Running Backs decided in a quick sprint…It WAS all about the Benjamins…the Army knows Special Teams…tight races for the Weekly awards…and our first Chump Survivor victim…
Cam Newton (RNT)
Week 1 top finishers Andrew Luck and Drew Brees went from 1st to Worst…ending as the 11th and 12th best starters in Week 2…the 3 highest Quarterback Ratings among TBFL starters this week all finished deadlocked in 2nd Place at 27 points…Derek Carr (115.0 Rating) had the highest completion percentage at 75.6%…finishing 1 yard short of moving ahead of this group with 299 yards and 3 Touchdowns…Carson Palmer (124.1 Rating) had the most yardage among the 3 with 308 yards on only 18 completions (17.1 ypc)…He also moved past Joe Montana to #16 on the All-Time Passing Yards list (40,615 vs 40,551)…Philip Rivers posted the highest Quarterback Rating of the day at 138.9 going 17 of 24 for only 220 yards…but added 4 Touchdowns against the Jaguars…Cam Newton went 24 of 40 for 353 yards…including 4 Touchdowns and 1 Giveaway (111.8 Rating)…he racked up another 37 rushing yards on 6 carries (6.17 ypc) to reach 34 points…It is the 1st Quarterback of the Week award for Cam…and the 1st trophy on the year for Runs N Throses…
Matt Forte (UOG)
This race was over quickly…Matt Forte was thought to be in a possible Jets backfield time share with Bilal Powell coming into the 2016 season…possibly serving as more of the receiving back…instead he proved to be the absolute bell cow against the Bills on Thursday Night…he had a Career High 30 carries for 100 yards…21 of which came on 1st Down…he tied his Career High with only his 2nd 3 Rushing Touchdown game (2013, Week 7)…scampering in for scores from 1…3…and 12 yards across 3 different Quarters of play…he added 2 Receptions to end exactly on 30 points…the next 5 Running Backs to take a shot at the title all came from only 2 teams…none of them finishing closer than 8 points back…It is the 1st Running Back of the Week award for Forte…and the 1st trophy earned on the year for UO Grandmasters…
Stefon Diggs (WAR)
This one proved to be more of a marathon…Eric Decker got us started on Thursday Night pulling in 126 yards on 6 Receptions (21.0 ypc) with a Touchdown to set the bar at 24 Points…On Sunday…it was ‘All About the Benjamins‘ baby…Kelvin Benjamin took the field in the early game against the 49ers…he pulled in 7 of 9 targets (77.8%) for 108 yards…including scoring 2 Touchdowns within 3:41 seconds of each other in the 3rd Quarter to raise the bar to 29 points…Taking over the #1 role in San Diego with Keenan Allen on IR (grumble…) Travis Benjamin was a perfect 6 for 6…piling up 115 yards (19.2 ypc) and 2 Touchdowns of his own from 6 and 45 yards out to match the 29 point total…On Monday Night…Stefon Diggs stepped up to the challenge against the Packers Defense…he had already matched his Career High with 7 catches and set a new personal best of 142 yards…but then grabbed a 25 yard Touchdown strike to close out the 3rd Period taking the lead…he added 1 more catch for 15 yards to lock it up with 33 points…It is the 1st Wide Receiver of the Week award for Diggs…and the 2nd trophy on the year for the Warriors…
Graham Gano (BBA)
5 Kickers found their way to 2-digit scoring in Week 2…Dustin Hopkins followed the Golden Path with 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points to reach 11 points…Justin Tucker followed the path with 3 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points but also earned a bonus on a 52 yarder against the Browns to reach 12 points…Brandon McManus had 7 Kick Opportunities against the Colts hitting 4 Field Goals and making 2 of 3 Extra Point chances to end ahead at 13 points…Cairo Santos made the most of the fewest Kick Opportunities hitting only 4 Field Goals including a 53 yard bonus earner to match at 13 points…Graham Gano took the lead purely on the volume of 9 Kick Opportunities…he hit on 4 Field Goals and 4 of 5 Extra Point chances to finish the day at 15 points…it is the 1st Kicker of the Week award for Gano…and the 3rd trophy on the year for Bubba Army…
Arizona Cardinals (BBA)
2 Defenses managed to cross the 20 point barrier in Week 2…the Superbowl Champion Denver Broncos proved to be less than generous hosts to Andrew Luck and company…they were held to only 11:29 Time of Possession and 72 total yards in the 1st Half…Luck was pressured all day resulting in 5 Sacks…a 46 yard Pick-6 and a stripped Fumble Recovery for another 15 yard Touchdown in the 4th Quarter to reach 21 points…the Arizona Cardinals proved to be equally hospitable to the Buccaneers holding them scoreless thru the 1st Half…Jameis Winston must have been having flashbacks to Saturday’s FSU-Cardinals game as the Redbirds pressured him with 3 Sacks including a strip Fumble Recovery…then Intercepted him 4 times including a 60 yard Pick-6…the 8 point bonus for holding them to only 7 points gave them the edge with 27 points for the week…It is the highest Cardinals point total in the TBFL (previously 26, 2012 Week 3)…their 1st Defense of the Week award and the 4th overall trophy on the year for Bubba Army…now just a Running Back award away from hitting for the cycle…
Team of the Week
UO Grandmasters rode our Running Back of the Week to the early lead with 30 points on Thursday Night…but with the Kicker scoring the most points for them in the 1-o’clock games…the door was opened as Hurricanes took the Roethlisberger-Williams stack to 82 points…Warriors receivers rocketed them up to 84 points…and Runs N Throses took the Newton-Benjamin combo to the lead after early games at 100 points…with light production at 4pm…Throser got a late push with the Gore Touchdown to reach 129 points…Hurricanes late Running Back kept them even…but the Fumble Recovery Touchdown from the Broncos Defense with 1:42 left in the game moved them ahead at 136 points…Warriors still had a chance to climb up on Monday Night led by our Receiver of the Week…but he was working against his own Packer Defense and ended at 123 points…it is the 1st Team of the Week for Hurricanes since Week 12 of the 2014 Season…ending a 15 week drought…It is their 18th overall time winning the title…
Chump of the Week
Drew Brees vs Eli Manning was projected by Vegas to be the highest scoring contest of Week 2 (52½ Points)…but the 2 teams who rostered those Quarterbacks are the ones who battled it out for the Week’s lowest score…Money Inc got the better end of the ‘Game of the Week’ with 17 points from Manning…but 1-digit scores left them at only 25 points after early Sunday action…X-Factor got 13 from Brees…12 from Maclin…and little else to reach 44 at that stage…Tyrell Williams scored in the 4pm block…just enough to match a 21 point showing from Julio Jones and they sat tied at 64…each with 1 player to go…Money Inc got only 9 from Randall Cobb in Sunday Night Action against the Vikings Defense…and X-Factor got 14 from Alshon Jeffery on Monday Night to pull ahead 78 to 73…it is the 1st award for Money Inc on the season…their 2nd in the last 4 Weeks of play…and their 21st overall as a franchise…
Chump Survivor
The Week 2 Chump of the Week is always the 1st eliminated from this competition so Money Inc falls to the wayside…this makes back-2-back seasons as the 1st eliminated…average scoring fell 5 points to 103…only 5 teams crossed that line…but X-Factor was the only team to not even have that total as a Potential Score…78 was 90.7% of their 86 possible points…you will need to pay better attention to these bench warmers going forward to stay out of last place…
Notes & Numbers
Husslers 1 point victory is their 1st ever win against Bay Area Thrashers…ending a 5-Game regular season losing streak that dates back to them joining the league in 2011…There are 3 other perfect records between current teams left in the league that can still be challenged this season…Runs N Throses 4-0 record vs Husslers and Bay Area Thrashers 7-0 record vs Hurricanes will both be played in Week 5…Hurricanes 3-0 record vs Husslers will be played in Week 10…
Fudgie Whales 107-78 win over X-Factor marks their 50th Regular Season win…they are the 11th fastest to 50 wins taking 106 Regular Season Games played (47.2% Win Rate) to reach the Milestone…
The 353 passing yards from Cam Newton is the 4th highest total he has ever put up in his Career…and the most he has ever thrown in a WIN…his Top-3 outings all came in the 1st 4 games of his Rookie Season…including his only 2 400+ yard games…which were the 1st 2 games of his Career…
And because I could not resist rubbing in the fact that the Cowboys beat the Redskins (and I still had the table built)…Dan Bailey is still within 1 point of Dez Bryant over their last 9 TBFL Games…
