Yes we are publishing on Wednesday…but 4 different awards got changed because of outcomes on Monday Night…Minimalism vs Maximization in the Quarterback race…Double Capped names rule the Running Back roost…Someone has to score these points…Kickers are still better than Receivers…our 1st 2 repeat offenders…a fall from grace…some amazing Milestones reached…and the Bandit Division likes ties…lets do this…
Drew Brees (XFA)
The average starting TBFL Quarterback score dropped 5 points in Week 3 to only 17.7 points…in Sunday AM action against the Lions…Aaron Rodgers capped off his 1st 3 drives of the day with Touchdown passes to 3 different Receivers…including back-2-back passes to Jordy Nelson and Richard Rodgers…the Android only threw 24 passes for the entire game (fewest of all starters) with 15 Completions (62.5%)…4 of which went for Touchdowns…a ridiculous 26.7% Touchdown-to-Completion ratio…205 passing yards with no giveaways gave him the highest Quarterback Rating among all starters at 129.3 and 28 points on the day…Monday Night was pegged by Vegas as the highest total for the week (54 points) and both Quarterbacks did their part not to disappoint…Drew Brees had the most Attempts…Completions…and Passing Yards among all TBFL starters going 36 of 54 for 376 yards and 3 Touchdowns…a Pick-6 to start the 4th Quarter left him 1 point under the 30 point barrier at 29…it is the 1st Quarterback of the Week award for Brees…and the 1st trophy on the year for X-Factor…
Devonta Freeman (MNY)
LaGarrette Blount got us started on Thursday Night by adding to his NFL Rushing lead with 104 Yards and 2 Touchdowns on 24 Carries against the Texans (4.3 ypc)…setting the bar at 22 points…in Sunday Morning games…DeMarco Murray and LeSean McCoy (WtF with 4 Double-Caps names on 3 Players?) posted nearly identical Rushing stats with 114 and 110 yards on the ground…McCoy added 2 Rushing Touchdowns…which were matched by DeMarco’s 1 Touchdown and some Receptions for them to end in a Bandit Division Tie (more on that below) at 26 points for the lead (Tie Broken in favor of McCoy by 2 to 1 TD ratio)…the lead held thru till Monday Night when the Falcons ‘Thunder and Lightning’ backs took control of the Saints Super-Turf…Devonta (Not Double-Capped…had to re-check 3 times to be sure…) Freeman had 14 carries for 152 yards (10.9 ypc!)…then caught all 5 of his Targets for 55 yards including a 13 Yard Touchdown to steal the title away with 31 points…it is the 1st Running Back of the Week award for Freeman and the 1st trophy on the year for Money Inc…
Marvin Jones (BBA)
With Quarterback scores falling…those high scores this week had to come from somewhere…of the 5 players to hit 30+ points in Week 3…4 of them came from the Wide Receiver position…Doug Baldwin and T.Y. Hilton posted nearly the same stat lines…Baldwin grabbed 8 of his 10 Targets for 164 yards and 1 Touchdown to reach 30 points…Hilton had 7 Receptions for 111…before pulling in the 63 yard game winning Touchdown with 1:28 to play finishing with 174 yards and 31 points…Emmannuel Sanders hauled in 9 of his 13 Targets against the Bengals for 117 yards and his 1st 2 Touchdowns of the year to get to 32 points…but it was Marvin Jones who would do the most damage with the fewest opportunities…8 Targets resulted in only 6 Receptions…but they were good enough to reach a Career High 205 yards (34.2 ypc!)…and post only the 2nd 2 Touchdown game of his Career (4 TDs…2013 Week 8) for 38 points…it is the 1st Wide Receiver of the Week award for Jones…the 2nd Wide Receiver award and 5th overall trophy on the year for Bubba Army…
Dustin Hopkins (HUS)
3 Kickers managed to find their way to 2-Digit scoring in Week 3…Mason Crosby got 6 Kick Opportunities against the Lions…going perfect on 4 Extra Points and 2 Field Goals to end at 10 points…Justin Tucker took the familiar 5 Kick Opportunity route…but the Ravens RedZone inefficency left him with only 1 Extra Point and 4 Field Goals including the 54 yard go ahead game winner to end the week at 14 points…Dustin Hopkins benefitted from the Giants Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense getting 7 Kick Opportunities…only 2 Extra Points…but 5 Field Goals including his own go ahead game winner to take the top spot at 17 points…it ties as the TBFL’s 3rd Highest Kicker score of all time and is a new Team Record for Husslers (15 Robbie Gould, 2012 Week 9)…it is the 1st Kicker of the Week award for Hopkins and the 1st trophy on the year for Husslers…
Kicker Extra Point (see what I did there…)
Justin Tucker’s total of 176 Field Goal yards was more than the output from all of the Baltimore Ravens Wide Receivers combined in Week 3…
Minnesota Vikings (BAT)
Houston must have been licking their chops on Thursday Night…getting to challenge a 3rd String Rookie Quarterback with 9 NFL attempts to his name…starting against a Defense that had only allowed 13 points per game…but it was the Patriots who would have all the fun…Brock Osweiler was the Quarterback who felt the pressure getting Sacked 2 times and throwing an Interception…the Special Teams forced 3 Fumbles on kickoffs (1 called back) and pitched the Shutout to finish with 23 points…the very next game on the slate on Sunday Morning saw the Vikings come to Carolina…the Panthers did put 10 quick points on the board in 9:40 of play…but then they kicked Cam Newton out of his own house…they Sacked him 8 times including a Safety and got an Interception in each of the final 3 Quarters…a 54 yard Punt Return Touchdown would be the difference maker as they ended the day at 27 points…it is the 2nd Defense of the Week award for the Vikings…our 1st repeat award winner…and the 2nd trophy on the year for Bay Area Thrashers…
Team of the Week
Playground Legends took the early Thursday lead getting 31 points from their Patriots…Bubba Army had all 5 position players and the kicker running in the AM games…and led by the Wide Receiver of the Week…climbed up to a league leading 124 points…a quick Buccaneer Defensive score before the AM games finished had the Army up to 146 points…but after giving up 37 to the Rams they fell back to only 128…Armed N Dangerous had a 94 point explosion in the PM games to take the top positon with 147 points going into Monday Night…Matty Ice had 2 Touchdowns…but only 137 yards at Halftime to bring the Army to 142…a 34 yard pass with 12:50 to play in the 3rd Quarter brought them to 148 and the lead…Ryan would only complete 2 more passes for the entire night to end on 150 points…it is the 2nd TOTW award for Bubba Army on the year…their 4th award in the last 6 Weeks…and extends their League Leading Career total to 31…
Chump of the Week
Heading into Monday Night…this contest looked to be a repeat of Week 2 with Money Inc at 59 points and X-Factor at 65 points battling to not be the team on the bottom of the standings…But X-Factor also needed 20 points to catch the 3rd lowest score in Hurricanes at 84 to get an outright win in their head-2-head game…Julio Jones was held in check…but our Running Back of the Week broke off a 21 yard scamper at 7:31 remaining in the 3rd Quarter to bring Money Inc past the threshold to 85 points…ultimately making it to 92…X-Factor finally got over the line with a 5 yard Touchdown pass from our Quarterback of the Week to Mark Ingram at 10:04 in the 4th Quarter…leaving Hurricanes in the bottom slot…2 points behind UO Grandmasters…the drop from Team of the Week to Chump of the Week in back-2-back games was last accomplished by…Bubba Army…in Weeks 7 and 8 of the 2014 Season…it is the 1st Chump Score on the year for Hurricanes…ending a streak of 22 Weeks without earning this award (2014, Week 6)…they now move from sole posession of the Record for Fewest Chump Scores to a 3 way tie with Husslers and Runs N Throses at 7 total awards…
Chump Survivor
As the 2nd Chump Score since the contest started last week…Hurricanes is eliminated from the 2016 Chump Survivor Contest…it is the earliest they have ever been eliminated (previously 2014, Week 6) and their highest elimination score (previously 79, 2015)…Average scoring rose 6 points to 109…the highest total of the short season…Bye Weeks start up in Week 4…so there may be fewer of these bench studs going forward…
