Statistically Speaking – The Power of 10…Reflected

Statistically Speaking

2 years ago I posted the original The Power of 10 post based on Danny’s comment that he would win 10 Games that season (SPOILER…he didn’t)…

As a brief update since that post…we have now added 24 more individual teams that have started 0-0…with only 2 more reaching the 2-digit win column (RNT in 2014, XFA in 2015)…that is now 17 out of 214 seasons…or the same 7.9% of all TBFL Seasons played from the last post…

2016-pow10-wins

Runs N Throses 2014 success makes them the 11th Franchise to accomplish the feat…while X-Factor’s 2015 run makes them the 4th Franchise to have 2 10 Win Seasons…

2016-10win-franchises

Runs N Throses taking down the 2014 Fantasy Bowl makes them only the 5th 10 Win Team to win the title…and the 1st since 2006…

Which brings us to new business…in Thrashers BAT-tleship predictions…he MISSed on Danny getting 10 Tea Bags for the Season and stated:

” I assume it is as hard to lose ten games as win…”

So here we go…Since being founded in 1998…214 individual teams have started 0-0…and exactly the same number – 17 – have ended with double-digits in the loss column…

2016-pow10-loss

That is the same 7.94% of all individual TBFL Seasons played…and just like 10 Wins…has not been an annual event…No team managed to reach 10 losses in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, or 2012 (33% of all years)…In comparison there have been 21 individual teams to end their seasons at 9 Losses…

2 teams getting to 10 Losses in the same season has happened 5 times…and again 1999 may deserve an asterisk as the Red Bank Blunts got their 10th loss in that year’s Week 14…the only non-13 Week season in TBFL History…Karl James’ Empire franchise (namesake of the Empire Cup) posted the 1st of back-2-back 12 loss seasons in 2000 as part of a 2-teamer with Kevin Beveridge’s Monster Mash…they were the lone 12 loss seasons until Eric Avila’s UO Grandmasters tied the feat 12 years later in 2013 as the last 2-teamer with Josh Riley’s X-Factor…and unlike with 10 Wins where there were only 5 11 Win teams…there have been 7 11 Loss teams…

Only 12 of the TBFL’s 29 historic franchises have reached 10 Losses…including 7 current franchises…Warriors and Money Inc. both posted their 2nd 10 Loss seasons in 2008…UO Grandmasters would join them with their 2nd 10 Loss season in 2013…and 2015’s horrific run for Money Inc. made them the 1st franchise to post a 3rd 10 Loss Season…

Armed N Dangerous…Bubba Army…Husslers…Playground Legends…and Runs N Throses remain as the only current franchises to avoid 10 Losses…
