Another week and another post….got to build some momentum to keep it up for the rest of the season…Lots of 2’s for the Top QB…a 1-2 punch for the RB race…Throser plays with his Wood…a Kicker duel…tough defenses…Champs…Chumps…Streaks…and some Heartbreakers…lets go…
Players of the Week
Matt Ryan (FUD)
Matty Ice went into New Orleans to face-off with Drew Brees in a head-2-head OT performance for the ages…26 of 35 passing for 374 yards and 5 Touchdowns with no give-aways was good enough for the 2nd best QB rating on the weekend at 148.10 (Tannehill 155.3)…he got bonus points with 2 point conversion passes to 2 different receivers…ending the day with 43.9 points…now the 9th highest TBFL score ever posted by a Quarterback…but 2nd place in the Fudgie Whales record book (46, Tony Romo, 2013 Week 5)…he was 2nd best on the field to Drew’s 396 yards and 2 Rushing Touchdowns…including the Game Winner that made Ryan 2nd best in the Win Column…but Brees played 2nd fiddle on the Playground Legends roster to FitzMagic…who finished as the 2nd best starter at 32.25 points…
Alvin Kamara (BAT)
Bay Area Thrashers deadly combo has dominated the RB charts so far this season…Kamara took the title in Week 1 with a 43.1 point effort…Gurley charged back to take the top slot in Week 2 with 32.3 points…and in Week 3 they finished in the Top 2 slots again…Gurley had 28 touches in the game for 156 combined yards to finish at 25.6 points…but Kamara had the benefit of overtime with the Falcons…he led the league in Targets (20) and Receptions (15) for the 6th highest Receiving Yards on the weekend (124) on his way to 190 total yards and 34.0 points…
Robert Woods (RNT)
Robert Woods did not lead in any receiving category on the weekend…finishing 4th in Targets (11)…3rd in Receptions (10)…12th in Receiving Yards (104)…and 2nd in Touchdowns (2)…he did add a WR leading 3 Rushing Attempts for the 7th most Rushing Yards among Receivers (13) to edge out the Starter competition overall with 33.7 points on the weekend…he takes the award in similar fashion to our QB title as UO Grandmasters left the highest point total (40.5) on the bench in Calvin Ridley….
Will Lutz (BBA)
The Week 3 kicker battle went head-2-head in the same TBFL game…Husslers started Matt Prater who got 6 Kick Opportunities in the Lions dismantling of the Patriots on Sunday Night…he converted on 4 Field Goals and 2 Extra Points to end the night on 14 points…Bubba Army used Will Lutz who received 7 Kick Chances…4 of them went only for Extra Points…but he made the most of 3 Field Goal attempts by squeezing out 1.4 bonus points on kicks of 45 and 49 yards…edging ahead with 14.40 points to claim the title…
Los Angeles Rams (MNY)
Our top 2 Starting Defenses are the only squads to post 2-Digit scores in all 3 Weeks of the season…the Bears had a slow start against the Cardinals…giving up 2 quick scores in the 1st frame…but then they held their ground…they harassed Sam Bradford allowing only 65 more passing yards as they had 2 Interceptions…and Sacked him 3 times forcing a Fumble and ultimately getting him replaced in the 4th Quarter by Josh Rosen…they added another Sack and Pick on Rosen’s stat line keeping the game scoreless in the final 3 Quarters to finish at 13 points…The Rams defense facing their crosstown rivals allowed scoring in every frame…2 Sacks and 2 Fumble Recoveries kept them in the hunt…but it was a Blocked Punt and recovery in the end zone for a Touchdown that pushed them over the top to 14 points and the title…
Team of the Week
The Top 2 Teams on our All-Time Win list battled it out for this honor…Runs N Throses had solid outings from Cam Newton…Devin Funches…and Odell Beckham Jr in the early games to reach 84.7 points…but Thrashers matched them with Mahomes…Kamara…and Thielen to to stay ahead with 86.9…Gurley…Howard..and the Bears D brought Thrashers up to 148.00 at the end of Sunday Afternoon…Robert Woods started the comeback for Throser…and James White and Kenny Golladay brought them into the Sunday Night lead with 149.80 points…Kevin would have to rely on his weak link on the season…the Kicker…to get back the lead…Boswell put them 2 points further in the hole with a missed Extra Point and Field Goal…but he connected on a 38 yard Field Goal and 3 more Extra Points to sneak to the lead with 152.00…it is their 2nd Title of the year…their 3rd Award earned in the last 5 Weeks of Regular Season action…and their 31st Trophy earned as a franchise…
Already setting the record last week for the most points ever scored in 2 Weeks of Play…Boswell made it Double Daggers for Shawn…as Thrashers also steal the 3 Week record away with 479.45 points…besting Runs N Throses 477 from 2011…Warriors shifted down a gear to a pedestrian 109.15 in Week 3…but combined with the 1st 2 weeks it still qualifies as the 4th Highest output ever over the opening 3 Weeks….only the 4th team to post over 400 points to open the season in that span…
Chump of the Week
Warriors was the low rung on the ladder after the Early Sunday games with only 33.70 points…Playground Legends held down the bottom slot after the afternoon games with 43.50 points…and only saw 4 more from their kicker to finish Sunday Night at only 47.50…a Touchdown away from X-Factor sitting on 54.45…ultimately Danny’s Monday Night combination of FitzMagic and DJax proved better than Mike Evans alone and they pushed past X-Factor 86.45 to 80.15…Josh had been tied for the 3rd longest current streak without taking the award at 15 games dating back to Week 13 of 2016…it is X-Factors 16th Chump Trophy as a Franchise…with only 146 Regular Season games played…they lead the league in Chump Rate at 10.96%…
Notes and Numbers
Bubba Army has now lost 6 in a row dating back to 2017 Week 11…tied for the 2nd worst streak in Team History and the 8th worst streak in League History…
UO Grandmasters 87.2 to 95.2 loss to Gorilla Warfare ended a 5 Game Regular Season Win Streak…and ended a Streak of 10 Games including the 2017 Playoffs of scoring 100+ (technically 106.40+)…Including the 2017 Empire Cup…Hurricanes holds the current longest streak at 4 games…otherwise it is a tie between BAT…HUR…HUS…and WAR at 3 games each…
3 Weeks into the Season…there have already been 7 players to post scores over 40 points…at least 2 in every week of play…and 3 in this past week…only 2 of which rode the pine…
The Waiting Is The Hardest Part…
Fudgie Whales spent this week with 8 of their 10 bench players posting a 0 score….and they still did not hit 100% efficiency…all 8 also scored more than their New Orleans Saints Defense (-2)…
