Statistically Speaking – 2012 Week 02

Statistically Speaking

Look!…I got the post done a whole day early !….Week 2 leaves us with a healthy dose of Bubba….The Best QB in the NFL toys with the Bucs….A single missed kick prevents a Bandit Division sweep….Point explosions in the race for Team of the Week come down to the kicker….We start our Chump Survivor competition….And a special distinction comes down to the last pass thrown by Ryan on Monday Night….

As a special note….While doing research for this week’s numbers I realized some of the Hall of Fame record fields did not show all the current teams…..so I expanded them out to show the Top 20 results in many of the Career related fields….have fun seeing where you stack up in TBFL History….

On with the show….

Statistically Speaking – BONUS “It’s a PPR League”

Statistically Speaking

While preparing the Statistically Speaking article….I pointed out how productive Julio Jones had been with only 6 Receptions on 9 Targets ….I found it curious/funny that the guy who made the most of his few opportunities happens to be on the team we give the most grief about forgetting that we play in a PPR League….So I did what I do….and ran an analysis of all 5 Player Position starters for each team and compared what % of their points came from Receptions….Legends had only 2 Receptions from his Running Backs and 16 in total….No surprise that right on the top of the heap was our Team of the Week….Husslers had the most receptions at 39 and the 2nd highest PPR% with 40.6%….Yours truly had a higher % solely on the early loss of Fred Jackson and the limited action of Wes Welker….The average was 20.1 Receptions from those positions placing half of the teams below the curve….2 teams finished lower than Playground Legends 16….Thrashers tied at 16, but again had an early exit from Jennings….Money Inc. only managed 15 catches, and Fudgie Whales bottomed out with 14….The Whales also were the only team to have a lower PPR% than Danny with 21.2% compared to his 22.9%….But they still won their game….Full chart is shown below….
